In Los Lunas, New Mexico, there has been a long and varied history of tools and toolmakers. In 1847 Mexican revolutionaries overthrew Mexican rule over California and set up a republic with themselves as presidente (leader). This event led to sporadic violence between Mexicans living east of the Rio Grande Valley (in Texas) and those living west of it until 1850 when all territory south of Arkansas was acquired by Mexico under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna as part of his efforts to regain control over Texas following the Ulysses S Grant victory over Mexican forces at Palo Alto on April 12th,. In 1853 Congress passed an act giving President James Buchanan authority “to purchase any territory which may be offered for sale” by Mexico including Los Lunas . At this point most people thought that Mexico would finally give up control over Texas but instead they reoccupied it following another series of US victories at Monterrey against Mexican forces throughout1856-60 called The Alamo Campaign (). Finally after years of effort by US military commanders various portions includingLos Lunas came under Mexican occupation on February 14th 1861 pursuant to Article II Section 2 Of The Constitution Of Mexico which provided: “That whenever war shall exist between two states within our limits … each state [shall] be separately covered by Arms?” However despite repeated pleas for help from General Richard Taylor during 1862-64 American troops only managed minor skirmishes against small numbers of militiamen fromSanta Anna’s army while he conducted widespread looting throughout much Southern Arizona.] These events caused great concern within both countries about how effectively both armies could deal with large areas stretching across several states should hostilities break out again.] Some residents inLos Lunas decided that something had GOT TO BE done about all these tools being left lying around town undeveloped! In 1825 Arapaho Indians attacked several small villages in this area and destroyed most of them due to lack of food supplies available back then. This event helped spawn many of the legends around Los Lunas such as “The Attack on Tucson” which refers to an ongoing economic conflict between Mexico and Arizona over control of what is now Tucson, Arizona
