Two such incidents took place on July 17th and August 15th; both resulted in fatalities. Gun violence continues to be an issue in Los Lunas even after these incidents happened; however, it remains underreported by local authorities due to fear of retribution from the shooter or victim’s family members

In 1902, Santiago's brother Manuel Luna opened a general store on South Main Street which still operates today as La Casa Grande Bodega & Grill. Manuel Luna was also an important figure in early Roswell development because he helped organize the first town meetings and offered financial support to Roswell entrepreneurs such as George Wills and Hernando Soto. In 1911, Joséfina Romo Lorenzo opened her own grocery store on North Broadway which became one of the most popular businesses in Los Lunas until it closed its doors in 1980s due to budget cuts by the city government . A few years later, another grocery store called L’ Impacto began trading at 4th Avenue and Broadway which became another popular business for many years before it too closed its doors . Finally, n 1996 when Humberto Ramos reopened his hardware store at 6th Avenue and Broadway which quickly become one of los lunas' most successful businesses ever .Humberto Ramos is still active with his business today and it continues to be one of los lunas' biggest economic engines
