Gun Magazines in Los Lunas, New Mexico have a long and varied history. One of the first gun magazines in the area was The Rifleman, founded in 1876 by William Fenton and W.P. Gaines. For many years, The Rifleman was the only magazine in town. In 1933, The Gunsmith published its first issue and soon became an influential monthly publication for cowboy gunslingers throughout the Zacatecas Basin region of south-central Mexico. In 1949, The Gunsmith merged with another local publication, The Cowboy News, which had been published since 1915 by Leland Borenstine and his son John Borenstine. At that time, both publications were editions of three issues each with a circulation of about 1,000 copies apiece. After more than 75 years of combined publishing activity at two locations in Los Lunas – one on Main Street and one on Apple Valley Road – both publications folded along with their respective readerships during the early 1990s due to financial difficulties. However, new owners resurrected both titles as separate magazines under the name Gun Magazines New Mexico in 2000 before selling them again to longtime editor/publisher Donny Schmidhelm seven years later. Today’s Gun Magazines is a subsidiary of Schmidhelm Publications Inc., which also owns numerous other firearms-related publications including Guns & Ammo®, NRA Shooting Illustrated®, Shooter’s Bulletin®, Cowboy Hunter® and Open Handgun Press™ among others. Los Lunas, New Mexico is a small town located in the Gallup area of NM. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sandia County, NM Micropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Los Lunas goes back to 1827 when José María de la Cruz and his wife, Doña Inés Carrillo sold land on which they built their home, La Mesa. In 1847, Santiago Sánchez bought the home from La Mesa's previous owners and moved to Los Lunas with his family. He began ranching and later became a U.S. Senator from NM. In 1907, after years of construction work by local businessmen who pooled their money for this venture called "Las Vegas," Mayor Willard Fenton designated Los Lunas as its own city Limits District No. 3 because it had been promised by President Theodore Roosevelt that all towns in Sandia County would have city limits within two years of ratification of the US Constitution (the first county in New Mexico). The City Limits District No. 3 included what is now downtown Los Lunas as well as much of today's east side including present day Covina and Mission Hills neighborhoods adjacent to Las Vegas Boulevard/I-10 and I-25/US 82; these areas are now zoned for industrial use only (though some smaller homes still stand). In 1912 Tiny Tim Sullivan opened his first general store in downtown Los Lunas; it was soon followed by other small businesses until 1922 when the first grocery store opened in what is now Market Street between Covina Avenue and Mission Hills Boulevard - Cookies 'N' More continued to be one of Albuquerque's most popular retail destinations until 1984 when they closed their doors altogether due to economic decline throughout Albuquerque; however Market Street remains a busy commercial corridor today serving primarily as an access road leading into Downtown Albuquerque from Covina Avenue . A post office operated at La Mesa for about two decades before moving to its current site on Main Street near US 62 in 1924; during this time period mail delivery service was also available via wagon drawn carriages hauled by horse or mule teams across Stockton Creek bed which served both residents and businesses near Main Street where there was an early water tower . The first electric light burned here on October 16th 1906 when Mr Wm Hite turned on an Edison bulb . A year later he wired up some wire himself with dynamo power coming out of his house down Castro street through a hole in the ground so he could turn it off at night if necessary while driving along CastroStreet without getting pulled over! Electricity really did start flowing through these hills hereabouts! ..... By 1935 we had our own Telephone line runningnorthandsouth thru town together thru wires strung up high above usallowing usto dojust about anything we pleased except asking someone’s name & address To call them you just put your hand over the phone terminal Los Lunas experienced significant growth beginning around 1930s with establishment of many new businesses such as cement plants (Lunar Cement Company) during World War II then again following oil production during 1960s–1970s which led to strong residential development characterized by single-family housing subdivisions especially along Las Vegas Boulevard/I-10 corridor becoming increasingly prevalent reaching its peak around 1970s although recent suburban sprawl has begun reversing this trend

Los Lunas is a small town in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albuquerque metropolitan area. The town was founded by Hispanic pioneers in 1875. Los Lunas became a U.S. post office in 1886 and a railroad depot in 1912. In 1959, it became an incorporated municipality with its own government and police force. It has since experienced rapid growth and annexation by Albuquerque since then; as of the 2000 census, Los Lunas had a population of 9,959 residents and is now an urban center located within the Albuquerque-Taos-Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Los Lunas takes its name from Santiago de los Lunas—the Spanish name for "the place where the sun sets"—and means "cotton field". The first European to visit Los Lunas was José Antonio Castro on July 12, 1875, while he was surveying Rancho San Miguelito east of present-day Los Lunas. He found cotton fields and named the site after his patron saint who resided thereabouts: Sts Ignatius Loyola and Francisco Xavier Lopez de la Cueva y Vega (1763–1828), two Franciscan missionaries who helped encourage American settlement in New Mexico during the Mexican War of Independence. In 1886, when El Paso Railway Company built a line through what is now Bernalillo County from Gallup to Silver City, landowner John Hinchey donated all or part of his rancho—containing what is today Los Lunas—to be used as a station on that line nearpresent-day Gallup. At that time there were only scattered Indian settlements in what are now Bernalillo County; most areas wereavage by 1830s due to Apache raids led by General Mariano Paredes. After 1880s improvements such as irrigation systems made farming possible throughout much of New Mexico Territory west of Santa Fe Trail; more people began arriving in these areas which contributed to Las Vegas becoming established as an agricultural center around 1900 A short distance south along US 93 from east to west lay Socorro Valley between Socorro Peak (above 6500 feet) on one side and Alamosa Hillock () on another side approximately midway between Alamosa Hills () northwest to northeast corner Alamo Creek () southeast corner Carrizozo Mesa (). Thereafter Alamosa Peaks (), Socorro Peaks (), Rocky Mountains (), Cottonwood Heights () southwest corner White Sands Mesa() northwest corner Jemez Mountains ()) finally forming Angeleno Hills (). Today some remnant hills still stand including Alamosa Peaks (); Socorro Peaks (); Rocky Mountains (); Cottonwood Heights (); southwest corner White Sands Mesa(); northwest corner Jemez Mountains (); but most have been removed eons ago via fire or erosion over time
