One popular legend among locals says that one night an old woman named Gertrude died after being hit by a buggy during a riding excursion outside the village limits. Her ghost still haunts los luna's roadsides today – her plaintive cries can be heard echoing through the trees as drivers approach from behind (even though no such vehicle exists). Another more recent haunting concerns two local girls who disappeared while playing near la casa de las brujas (the house with the witch's head) around 1980. No trace has ever been found of them either – even though there have been numerous tips leading up to their discovery over the years!
