The name was changed to Las Vegas when airline pilot George Caesar paid for advertising in Billboard magazine calling Las Vegas "The End of the World." In 1945, hotel mogul Howard Hughes purchased land near what is now downtown Las Vegas and built his first hotel, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, which became one of the most iconic symbols of modern Nevada capitalism. In 1951, he founded MGM Mirage casino resort with satellite casinos at both ends of the Strip—one near Mandalay Bay and another near Excalibur Casino—and named it after his wife Margaret Lyon Hughes. MGM Mirage became one of America's largest casino resorts with over 20 properties throughout North America. Today it operates under several names including MGM Resorts International and Stratosphere Casino Resort Corporation

As a result, many accessory manufacturers have emerged over the years to provide users with this type of convenience.

Las Vegas, New Mexico is a small town in the southern Great Plains region of the United States. The population was 6,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Las Vegas has been inhabited by Native American peoples for over 10,000 years and was founded by Spanish colonists in 1853 as Rancho Viejo de las Animas. In 1912, it became part of what is now Nevada. The city was named after French-born casino magnate William Boyd Las Vegas who had died in 1911. The name stuck and it has been commonly called Sin City since 1951 when it became an incorporated city with a mayor and council system independent from the state government. In 1952, Boyd's widow gave her husband's estate to be used as a gambling resort which led to its current name of "Las Vegas". The casinos that followed were often difficult to operate and failed within a few years. However, other entrepreneurs soon came up with plans to revive the industry including Harry Ehrlich who built five hotels and two casinos on Paradise Road between downtown Las Vegas and McCarran International Airport in 1962-1966; Steve Wynn who built four hotels (Wynn Palace hotel & casino, Mirage hotel & casino, Wynn resort & spa, and Encore hotel & Casino) between 1967-1975; Jay Geffen who developed Golden Nugget Resort & Casino on North Strip adjacent to Tropicana Field; Bob Macdonald who bought MGM Mirage Hotel & Casino from MGM parent company PolyGram in 1998 which led to its current name of MGM Resorts International; Sheldon Adelson whose company Adelphi Entertainment purchased both Bellagio Resort Casino on Circus Circus Rd., Planet Hollywood Resort& Spa across from Mandalay Bay Events Center in 2006; Caesar’s Palace opened along Flamingo Boulevard outside the city limits on July 1st 2007 becoming one of only three resorts open outside metropolitan Las Vegas The Sands Corporation merged with MGM Mirage Holdings Incorporated in 2015 creating MGM Resorts Worldwide LLC In 1942 Japanese forces attacked Clark County near Reno killing more than 120 people without warning or retaliation while everyone inside Fort Winnepin reported hearing no shots fired
Las Vegas became a town in 1864 after gold was found there. The first post office was established in 1865, and the first store was opened in 1868. In 1870, Nevada became a state, and Las Vegas became its capital. The Stanley Hotel was built in 1903 and is still standing today.
