A year later, Hagerty founded a rancho offtreated by him named ECHO CASTLE after his men heard about an Indian encampment nearby that had been abandoned due to Indians raiding white settlements on October 12–13, 1865. The town began Toquerville Settlement Company business with goods bought from local miners and shipped downriver via steamboats to Reno for shipment back upriver to Castaic Lake during those days before railroads came along[4]. On November 16th 1865 Rancher George Wright sold parcels comprising Rancho Mirage including ECHO CASTLE to James Fenton for $1 million cash[5][6][7]. Harry Sinclair became President of USG Land Corporation who developed much of this property into modern day Las Vegas as well as Reno.[8][9][10] The townsite name "Las Vegas" originated with José Antonio Vega who called it Nueva Vizcaya (New Mexico Territory).[11] In 1870 Don Miguel de la Torre started playing poker at Sunset Strip Club which became known as El Toro Lounge or Los Angeles Poker Hall according to various sources considered definitive evidence that there was no such place as El Toro Lounge until sometime between 1870-1875 when Frank Calvert organized all eastside bars into one organization under one name - California Rooming House Company visible from Sunset Strip)[12]. In 1874 Hotel Nevada opened its doors with gaming tables outside next door to Deuce Alley Saloon[13]. In 1880 two brothers purchased 10 acres (40 hectares) northwest of downtown from Japheth Meyer for $10 000[14], developing what would become today's Fremont Street Neon Museum district near Union Station

The early firearms were hand-held devices that shot small objects such as arrows or rocks. As technology improved, so too did the ability to fire larger projectiles with more accuracy. One of the earliest examples of ammunition was musket ammunition created in China in about 7th century BC. This type of ammunition consisted of small lead balls that were fired from a bow or quiver. Musket rounds were very inaccurate and were only used for training purposes until about 1600 AD when cannons became available which permitted them to be used in real combat against other armies. The development of artillery led to an increase in firepower and ability to destroy large targets. By the mid 1800s, artillery rounds had become sufficiently accurate so that they could bedrop on target with great precision, leading to the modern day battle field bombardment where shells are dropped from aircraft onto enemy positions or buildings
