Las Cruces would not regain its former prominence until after World War II when factories began moving into the city from outlying towns and farming retreated to smaller fields statewide. However, despite this change in fortunes, local businesses still remain dominant today with many small businesses taking advantage of Interstate 10 access across town for easy business growth.
