There are few towns in the United States with a history as rich as Hobbs, New Mexico. The town was founded by prospectors in 1881 and became an important center for cattle drives and mining during the early 20th century. In the 1940s, Hobbs experienced a surge of population growth due to the oil production in nearby Santa Fe. As more people moved into the town, it began to lose its touch as a small rural community. However, over time, Hobbs has regained some of its lost identity and is now considered an important cultural destination. Hobbs owes its start to prospectors who came through the area in 1881. By 1882, there were already several settlements around La Paz County including Hobbs, which was founded on October 10 by James Ahern and his brothers John and Michael Houghton. The first post office was established at Houghton on November 4 that year. The first residents of Hobbs were men who had come out to hunt buffalo or other game while prospecting for minerals in what is now northern New Mexico Territory. By 1886, however, there were no any indigenous people living within miles of La Paz County limits when white settlement began hereabouts (or so they thought). It wasn’t until 1907 when Dr. Jens Wesselmandt arrived from Germany with his wife Emma to help open up new land north of White Sands National Monument – where he discovered goldmines – that things changed forever for this little corner of New Mexico Territory (later State ofNM) In 1916-1917 Doc Cramer set up shop operationally about 12 miles northeast from downtown Hobbs after finding many good prospects at surface water crossings near Socorro Lake; he named his property Campo de las Animas (Field of Gold) after José Antonio “Pancho” Villa who helped get USGS permission to explore these areas just east of Sandoval City.) This opened up all sorts of possibilities for Hudspeth & Company employees working over 100 feet underground where later discoveries included 16 million ounces (4/5 ounces pure gold) being mined starting 1922! All well accomplished without any public disclosure or investment! What made DocCramer great was not only did he do it himself but also he followed thru with numerous agreements with various government officials resulting in large mineral rights sales totaling $25 million prior to 1930 (!), but much less since then because royalties have been paid out exclusively to agencies such as NAMCO Miners Incorporated! The early days saw many potential millionaires waiting tables at local cafes before going into business themselves like Tom Hudspeth Sr., Cecil Beasley Jr., Don Evennett etc.; today our families continue this tradition by running successful businesses like mine . . . At one time each family had 3-6 Employees (& we still have 1 family member employed fulltime!) ! Hobbs, New Mexico is located in the United States of America and is part of the Rio Grande Valley. The population of Hobbs was 7,722 as of the 2010 census. It wasn't until 1933 that Interstate 10 was built just east of town making it easy for people to get here from all over America without having to go through Phoenix or Tucson. This made life much easier for locals who could now come and go as they pleased without worrying about getting lost or driving long distances every time they wanted to purchase something new or different outside their home state or country

The Hobbs Massacre took place on October 14, 1876, in the town of Hobbs, New Mexico. The massacre was a result of a fight between two groups of men over a theft. One group of men were led by Hiram Green and the other group by John C. Fremont. When they arrived at the scene, they found that there was already a fight going on between two groups of men. Hiram Green's group tried to stop the fight and when it became too much for them, they started shooting indiscriminately at anyone who came into view. A total of 21 people were killed in this rampage and another 45 were wounded.
