Gun sights have a long and varied history in Hobbs, New Mexico. The first sighting devices for firearms were rudimentary crude sketches or drawings that were created to help shooters get an idea of where they should aim their shots. These early sighting devices consisted of a small hole in the ground that allowed the shooter to see what was behind them, as well as a simple crosshair on the back of a piece of wood or metal. By 1868, firearms had become widespread in America and some individuals decided it was necessary to have better sights so they could hit their targets with greater accuracy. One such individual was Simon Winchester who engineers designed and created the first sight system for handguns called Winchester “Improved Model 1892” which used an adjustable rear-view mirror to sight the weapon automatically. This model was quickly adopted by many American firearm owners and helped increase shooting accuracy by providing more accurate aiming information. In 1915, another inventor named John Browning patented his design for an automatic handgun Sight System which utilized a mirror mounted on top of a rifle stock that allowed shooters to view their target directly from any angle regardless of its location within rangefinder magnification. This invention became known as the Browning Auto Rifle and helped increase gun proficiency by allowing people to shoot at will without having to focus on specific targets. Hobbs became home to one of America’s leading manufacturers of handguns in 1903 when Robert Epps founded Epps Firearms Company in town. At this time Handgun Manufacturing Corporation (HMC) employed over 500 employees across four facilities located in downtown Hobbs, two production lines operated out of the old courthouse garage, as well as distribution centers throughout northern New Mexico Territory including San Miguel County and Socorro County. HMC manufactured pistols using several different designs including those utilizing both manual loading mechanisms (“ pump action ”), sideby-side magazine capacity (up to ten rounds), smoothbore barrels up through .455 caliber (.20 inch) with bore size increments up through 10 inches (25 mm), lever-action guns chambered at 9mm Parabellum (.40 S&W) while also manufacturing revolvers chambered at 7mm Remington Magnum (.28 S&W). It should be noted that although Handgun Manufacturing Corporation produced pistols armament grade products under various brand names such as Colt Government Models, Smith & Wesson Model 2s etc., all firearms made by HMC are considered NRA breach fire arms class 3 weapons requiring no registration except for ammunition sales

Hobbs is located in the American West, about 220 miles (350 kilometers) northeast of Albuquerque. The town was founded by George Hobbs in 1876. It became a small post office and railroad station on the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1912, Hobbs had a population of just over 100 people. By 1960, the population had declined to just 25 people. In 1933, George Hobbs donated land to the towns development as a park. Now known as "Hobbs Park", it contains a playground, baseball diamond, football field, and water fountain. The park also contains two buildings which were used as school classrooms until the early 1990s when they were converted into apartments. Today hobbs is an agricultural community with some homes that have been converted into rental units or vacation rentals for visitors during summertime. There are several churches serving the community including First Baptist Church and Methodist Episcopal Church which are both within walking distance of each other on Highway 505 west of town center

Hobbs is located in the southeastern corner of New Mexico, and it was founded by Captain John Fenton in 1846. The town has since shrunk to under 100 people, but it still retains much of its historic charm. One of the most important aspects of Hobbs’s history is its role as a spiritual center for the Pueblo Indians. The Pueblo religion is based on nature worship, and many Puebloan chiefs would visit Hobbs to learn about natural phenomena. In addition, Hobbs played an important role in the development of Navajo culture. The town also played a significant role in the Mexican-American War. After President Polk lost his bid for reelection in November 1912, several war veterans from Hobbs fled to Mexico City to offer their services to General Victoriano Huerta. This action helped anger United States officials, who saw this as an attempt by Mexican nationals to take over American territory. This situation got worse whenHuerta began rounding up local Pecos Indians and shipping them off to work on plantations in Texas
In 1912, Hobbs was founded as a mining town in what is now Bernalillo County, New Mexico by J.D. Hickey and his family. The town prospered and grew rapidly; in 1924, it had a population of 582 residents. In the 1930s, Hobbs became known for its livestock production and its connection to the nearby Pecos Mining District. In 1940, the Hobbs School District was formed and the first school opened in 1942. During World War II, Hobbs served as an airfield for military aircraft used in Operation Overlord; after the war, it resumed its growth as a cultural center with a variety of events held annually such as the State Fair and Model T races.
