By 1865, Snyder had become a major player in the local firearm industry; his company produced over 100 different types of rifles and shotguns across several genres including hunting rifles and pistols. Hobbs is a small town located in New Mexico, United States. It was founded in 1881 by John B. Hobbs and his wife, Lillie. The town has a population of about 350 people. It is the most recent community to be established in the area that now includes Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hobbs was named for John B. Hobbs, a lumberman who had immigrated to the U.S.A., in 1859. In 1881, John B.'s brother-in-law, Arthur Hance also settled in Hobbs and helped to develop it into an important local community with commerce and agriculture as its mainstay. By 1907, however, hobbit had lost much of its economic significance due to changes within the adjacent Pecos County which began annexing neighboring townships during the late 19th century “Pecos Renaissance” – one of which was Hobbs itself. However, despite this decline (and even some damage done by fire),[1] over time hobbit has slowly regained some of its former prominence as a center for cultural and commercial activities within Albuquerque’s ethnically diverse fabric,[2][3] home since at least 1912 to both Interstate 25 and parts of I-25 Business District;[4][5][6][7] hosting various annual events including the New Mexico State Fairgrounds’ Folklore Festival;[8][9] as well as occasional visits from celebrities such as Clint Eastwood or Kenny Rogers;[10] both live performers on occasion at various venues around town while also engaging regularly with their local communities through numerous public meetings (eager citizens are known not only to attend these hearings but often offer valuable input on issues they care about). In 1847, the United States acquired the land that is now known as Hobbs, New Mexico from Mexico. The area was part of the Mexican Empire and was considered part of what is today Arizona. The United States acquired it in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican-American War.
