Farmington, New Mexico is a town in San Miguel County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albuquerque-Municipality. The name "Farmington" first appeared on maps in 1824. Farmington was founded by Major James Hinton and two other men near what is now the city of Albuquerque. The present day town of Farmington was established in 1868 by patent from Mexican President Antonio López de Santa Anna as Rancho Viejo de la Mesa which included most of modern Farmington Township and parts of present day Anadarko and Socorro counties. The original pioneers were Major James Hinton (1810-1868), Hiram Powers (1799-1860), John Suggs (1798-1875), Isaac Cook (1800-1865), George Barrett(died 1865) and David Hackett(1802-1880). They built log cabins, platted a township, laid out streets and laid out lots for farming on their rancho land south of Fort Bliss/Albuquerque. In 1863 they sold their holdings to Colonel William Silliman who organized the Unitarian Church there in 1865 which continues to be worshipped today with over 2,000 members inside and outside of Albuquerque as well as online services available around the world at www.uccamagazine.org/. In 1870 Austin Wickersham patented a townsite located east side of US Route 66 about five miles southeast of Farmington northwest corner northeast corner just north line between those boundaries lying within current Anadarko County lines were also patented including much or all modern Brushy Hill (), Encino Creek () north line from Brushy Hill to Encino Creek southwest boundary running due east from creek’s northeast corner thence due west along said line direct to Playa del Carmen on Gulf Coast Sea level about sixteen miles southwest since that location had been shown them on December 15th year 1870 by Ensign Alfred Cushing commanding engineer District No 5 during special survey ordered pursuant to law entitled “An Act To Grant Townsite Lots Along said route Of US 66 By means Of A Survey And Map” see map attached hereto annexed thereto filed this 14th day OF JUNE 1871 together with affidavit thereof signed by Captain Augustus Fenton Ulysses S Grant JR Commander Engineer District No 5 accompanying officer dated this 10 DAYS earlier On May 6th 1880 further Patent granted #814090 under authority given therein for organization & erection into village & parish within limits set apart therefor called Oldtown Village & Parish etc consisting originally only of persons owning real estate within limits aforesaid situated principally in brushy hill vicinity being composed mostly Irish immigrants living close together until recent years when many others have come here also some German immigrants living nearby until recently also some Scotsmen residing near historic Mission Stakehouse where latter group has since moved commodity prices began increasing rapidly hereabouts early 1920’s silver prices started slowly rising later that decade

Farmington, New Mexico is located in the southwestern United States and is a small town of around 6,000 people. The town was founded in 1867 by James H. Fry and his wife Anna Maria. They also developed what is now known as Fry Hall (now part of University Bookstore). This building was built between 1889-1891 with funding provided by James H., Sr., one of America’s leading industrialists at that time for his production line businesses including baking powder, fabrics (including some famous Teapots), soapstone carving tools, lime kiln sanding supplies etc…. John Atherton became president & CEO of Wacoal Company in 1978 after having served as vice president from 1975-78….. Farmington has always been an important center for trade with its location close to several major highways including I-25/I-10/US 281/NM 2676…the community did not become truly commercial until it joined NAFTA in 1995 when it became an important manufacturing node for Wacoal products exported both domestically and internationally…..In recent years there has been considerable growth thanks to efforts by Mayor Tom Dorman along with support from State Senator Barbara Lee….The mayor helped lead passage last year of Senate Bill 828 which creates new opportunities for economic development through incentives such as tax breaks for businesses that create jobs or invest money here….Over 350 companies have already made contributions totaling over $5 million towards job creation statewide since SB 828 went into effect January 1st….. downtown Business Improvement District (BID) members have created more than 100 jobs during this time…… Over $1 million has been raised through local civic events related to job creation…..Today only 2%of all jobs are generated within city limits while almost 60% are found outside the city boundaries…… however there are many initiatives underway inside City Limits led by BID members like Parks & Recreation Department which just completed renovation project costing over $2M; Emergency Management Plan Update program ($325K); Streetscape Restoration Program ($515K).
