Despite these advantages, some creatures still do not have the ability to travel in both directions simultaneously like whales or dolphins. These creatures rely on bilateral locomotion where one leg moves forward while the other remains stationary. Biologists have been trying to unlock this process for years now in an effort understand how it works and why it is important for these species.

He built a log cabin near what is now South Main Street and East Seventh Avenue. In 1828, he married Maria Martinez and they started to farm around present day West Fourth Street. A year later they had their first child, John Chatham Crouch Jr., who also became a farmer. In 1834, Isaac Greeley came to New Mexico and soon after established himself as one of the leading merchants and farmers in Farmington. As a result of this busy schedule, Greeley was able to build a home on Park Avenue which still stands today as one of the most impressive examples of Federal architecture in central NM

Farmington, New Mexico is a town in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 5,824 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bernalillo County. Farmington was founded in 1827 by James Wetherbee and his family. The first post office in Farmington was established in 1829. The name of the town derived from an Indian word meaning "safe place." The history of Farmington began with the arrival of James Wetherbee and his family to this area in 1827. They were followed by other settlers over the years, who added to the community's growth and success. By 1860, there were more than 100 residents living in Farmington. In 1907, construction on what would become the town's first courthouse began; it was completed that year and served as its center until 1960 when a new courthouse was built on Park Street across from Town Hall. During World War II, FarmINGTON played an important role as a vital supply center for Bernalillo County due to its location near several military bases including Fort Bliss and Camp Bowie. In 1957, during President Eisenhower's I-4 Executive Order 9100 which aimed to stimulate agricultural production throughout United States by providing incentives for farmers to add value-added crops such as fruits and vegetables into their operations, Farmsington became one of only five towns within Bernalillo County (the others being Odessa, Santa Fe Springs/Edinburg/Mission Viejo Hills/El Centro) that received Federal recognition as statistical areas developed under EO 9100 specifically designed to support increased agricultural production statewide through research and demonstration programs involving local communities located adjacent or within commuting distance of Federal agencies engaged in agriculture research or development activities - these statistical areas would continue variously known through various names until they were phased out entirely by 2002 as part of overall Statewide effort called Rural Development Initiative (RDI). In 1961 then Mayor Harry Hines approved plans for what would come to be known as "The Square", located at corner Main Street & Broadway Avenue NE - this additional space would house both the library branch inside what is now Town Hall Garage Complex (now used primarily for storage) along with new municipal services including police & fire protection services which had been imported from nearby Gallup AFB following passage of Republic Act No. 8802 creatingBernalillo County Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) - these municipally provided services continued until 1988 when city & county services were combined into a single entity known today as City of FarmINGTON
Farmington was founded in 1847 as a small farming town on the banks of the Rio Grande. The town grew rapidly and by 1870, it had reached its current size. In 1917, Farmington became the capital of New Mexico.
