The history of gun barrels in Deming, New Mexico can be traced back to the early days of the United States. The area that is now Deming was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1800s. By 1850, it had become a city and began to grow economically. This led to the development of a large military force and the need for ammo and guns. In 1871, James Wickersham became Mayor of Deming and decided to start a gun barrel manufacturing business. He hired local workers to help produce barrels for his new company. The business continued to grow until 1880 when it merged with another company and went out of business. However, this did not mean that gun barrels were stopped from being made inDeming whatsoever; they simply changed their focus. In 1881, Captain Hannon bought the old mill on Main Street which he turned into a munitions plant. Here he produced cartridges, grenades, cannons and other weaponry for American troops in World War 1. After World War 1 ended, Captain Hannon sold his munitions plant and started anew as an ammunition manufacturer called Armour & Co., Ltd.. His company continued production until 1955 when it folded due to lack of competition. In 1951, Gun Barrel Manufacturing Company was reborn as Smith & Wesson Firearms Corporation under the leadership of President William Joeson Sr.. It would stay here until 1997 when it merged with Colt Industries Incorporated to form Walther Arms Corporation Limited (WALTHER). AtWalther Arms Corporations peak production rate in 1994-1995 we produced over one million firearms per year! Unfortunately during these years there were also many tragedies involving firearm accidents including some fatal shootings attributable directly or indirectly to our products! Finally on January 10th 1998 after more than 25 years of continuous success at Walther Arms Corporations factory located in Lordstown OHIO our brand was discontinued effective immediately due primarily to increased competitors within our industry!!!

In 1952, he was elected governor of Missouri; however, he would resign less than two months into his term after becoming involved in a bribery scandal. In 1952, Deming founded the Harry S. Truman Foundation which provides scholarships and grants to young people throughout America. The foundation has since been expanded to include initiatives such as demining campaigns around the world and renewable energy projects. In 2018, he was honoured with an award from The World Economic Forum for his contributions to society and economy worldwide

Deming, New Mexico is a small town located in southern New Mexico. The population was 9,524 at the 2010 census. Deming is the county seat of Pecos County. It lies on the Rio Grande near Taos, New Mexico and on the border with Apache County, Arizona. The name "Deming" has been spelled variously since 1885 when it was first given to an area within present-day Pecos County by Jameson Deming, a son of American engineers John Deming and his wife Sarah Morse. The original spelling may have been derived from Spanish words meaning "fortress." Jameson's brother-in-law Simeon Behnke had named a creek in that area Santa Fe Creek after Saint George. In 1886, Jardine McCarthy changed the spelling to Deming in honor of John D'Eppingham who had raised money for Central Pacific Railroad construction northwest of Albuquerque through what is now Pecos County. The community began as a two-hundred-acre rancho called Rancho de las Minas (the Mines Ranch). A post office was founded there in 1888 and remains open today (April 14th). Settlement continued apace until 1912 when a drought caused most people to leave for lack of food. By 1916 over one hundred families had moved into new homes built west of downtown by developer Harry Ralston.) When World War I came along, local men enlisted in service and some women joined them; but few children were born because all couples wanted to help their fathers fight or dieBrave young men like Franklin Kapp did not have mothers waiting home to take care of them! As soon as they returned home they started farming their own land so that their wives could stay at home and rear their Own children instead! This type of dedication won’t be found anymore these days if you want your child to achieve anything he/she should work hard for Instead Of Just Giving Them Everything They Need! In 1926 Harry Ralston donated 4 blocks on Broadway between 8th Ave N & 9th St NW which became ground zero for Deming during its early years Landowners here banded together formed what we know today as The Pioneer League Club which still meets monthly this side of 30 years ago
Deming was founded in 1912 by Deming native John P. Crowley, who named it in honor of his father, American Industrialist George P. Crowley. The city grew rapidly during the 1920s and 1930s due to its location at the eastern edge of a major oilfield and its proximity to key highways. The population reached 60,000 by 1940, and peaked at 100,000 in 1960. By 1970, however, the city had shrunk to 10,000 residents and declined thereafter. Deming's decline can be traced to several factors: the opening of the New Mexico State Highway 9 corridor in 1946 which made it easier for truckers access the oilfield; an increase in manufacturing jobs throughout New Mexico during the late 1960s and early 1970s; and a decrease in petroleum prices that led to a decline in business activity.
