These guns were also subject to regulation under the new Gun Control Act of 1955 which required serial numbers for all firearms and made it illegal to import or export any type of paintball gun without a valid federal Firearms License number (FFL). The Gun Control Act also banned replica firearms which effectively ended all airgun production in New Mexico for over fifty years!

On December 1, 1959 it amalgamated with neighboring Ambrosia to form the present-day Clovis city limits. The economy of Clovis is based primarily on agriculture and ranching activities. A number of cultural attractions are available in and around Clovis including libraries, museums and art galleries.
