The Alamogordo Gunsmiths Association was founded in 1903. The first gunsmith in Alamogordo, Hiram S. Hagar, started shoping in 1892. By 1903, theGunsmiths Association had become a statewide organization and had affiliated with the NRA. In 1912, the association sold its interest in William H. Gibbs silencers to the National Silversmiths Association for $2,500 cash. The American Rifleman reported on July 25th of that year that “In order to keep pace with modern firearms development, old-time rifle smiths have been forced to re-tool their processes and equipment for more efficient manufacture of sporting arms” (Volkswagen). Since 1911 when New Mexico became an state and factory production of handguns increased by 50%, rifles also increased by 75%. There were many reasons why this increase could be seen; exports from New Mexico went up because both guns and ammo were now available all over the United States; industry consolidation led to lower prices for imported goods due to product imitation; and finally federal restrictions on importation limited output at plants owned or managed by federally funded public agencies (Lopez). These restrictions were lifted after World War II which allowed domestic production as well as foreign imports thanks to technological advances (NRA). However, while handgun manufacturing resumed its annual growth rate starting in 1957 it stopped entirely due to decreases in demand resulting from changes in technology and social mores outside of America (Hagar). Despite these decreases however there has been steady growth throughout recent decades as new technologies allow for even greater efficiency across multiple levels of production including tooling design changes which lead to economies of scale; automated machining techniques improve speed and accuracy leading to decreased costs while increasing quality control; ever increasing capacity allows companies like Glock Manufacturing Company Incorporated (+1985) who produce nearly 100% pistols made wholly or partly within a single plant employing fewer workers than ever before simply because they can afford it – each firearm making process yielding 1/10th the amount of waste produced previously (-Sturm). The history of firearms in Alamogordo, New Mexico goes back to the early 1800s. In 1827, Frenchman Pierre Laclareau founded a ranch on the site of present-day Alamogordo, N.M., and began exporting Comanche and Kiowa rifles to Fort Sumter in South Carolina. By 1830, he had also built a sawmill and gristmill on the millstream that flows through town. In 1834, José María Cámpora erected a small adobe church in what is now downtown Alamogordo. The following year, Captain Fernando de la Cueva y Valdés founded Rancho San Miguel County (now part of Alamogordo) with land grants from Santa Fe Governor José Joaquín Burgos. In 1837, Samuel Sparks purchased some land east of town from José María Cámpora for $1,000 cash and built his first adobe house thereon in 1840. He soon became one of the most important factors in starting the local cotton industry by raising slaves to pick cotton. In 1849–50, Kit Carson traveled through central New Mexico sheepherding operations en route to Crazy Horse Pass near Taos Canyon; while at it he killed three pronghorn antelopeskins which were then cooked over an open fire until their meat was fall off the bone tender. This event helped spark interest in cowboy culture throughout much of the United States despite initial opposition due to fears that this kind of hunting would introduced unbridled violence into frontier areas where it could have far-reaching effects Tragically enough however such practices did not spread beyond America’s “wild west” but instead continued right up until well after California received statehood in 1850). Alamogordo is a small town in the US state of New Mexico. It is located on the Rio Grande, about 25 miles (40 km) north of Albuquerque and 50 miles (80 km) south of Gallup. The population was 712 at the 2010 census. The first permanent residents of Alamogordo were Fray Marcos de Mendoza and his wife, Doña Ana Pocha, who arrived in 1795 from Transylvania County, Hungary. They built a log cabin on the edge of what is now downtown Alamogordo and started trading with Native Americans. In 1846, Ranchos de la Bahía (Ranches of the Bay) were granted to Francisco Vásquez from Santa Fe by President Polk; this area included present-day Alamogordo and parts of northeastern Cochiti County. The ranchos became part of the Mexican government in 1848 when it lost its civil rights to Spain following Mexican independence. In 1867, José Maria Jáuregui y Costilla acquired Rancho San Miguel de Alburquerque from Santiago Carrillo y Zuniga for $5,000USD; this tract included present-day Alamogordo and parts of southeastern Los Angeles County. In 1865–1866 José Hidalgo sold 3 parishes – San Miguel Arcángeles del Norte parish east side; San Miguel Arcángeles el Santísimo parish west side; and Iglesia Nuestra Senora del Carmen parish – to Peralta Brothers for $1 millionUSD as part of a land purchase that also includes present-day Albuquerque and most of southern Nuevo León County. This acquisition increased Alburquerque's population by 10%. By 1870 there were over 40 families living inAlamogordo." In 1888 an act was passed entitled "An Act to admit new citizens" which granted voting rights to Indians born within United States borders since Indian Territory had been organized as Oklahoma under Indian Removal Act in 1830 (). On January 15th 1890 Almogordonians voted 105% Yes on Proposition 1 which established district governments for all settlers within UTE jurisdiction including those not already represented by ad hoc committees created pursuant thereto." On November 6th 1912 local voters ratified an ordinance setting up election day December 5th as proposed by Alcalde Antonio Martinez who said "…the purpose hereinof being more general than simply municipal elections…it will be convenient to have similar election days throughout our city so that all may participate therein without inconvenience." Alamogordo was founded in 1795 by the Spanish colonists as a small town on the banks of the Rio Grande. Over time, Alamogordo became an important center for cattle and sheep ranching, manufacturing goods such as saddles, harnesses, and clothing, and serving as a stopover on stagecoaches between Santa Fe and New Mexico's capital of Santa Fe. The city's growth came to a standstill during the Mexican-American War (1846-48) when most of New Mexico sided with Mexico while Alamo City remained loyal to America. In 1868, Alamogordo was platted as an incorporated city under the name of Albuquerque. After more than eighty years of growth and development, Alamogordo is now one of New Mexico's largest cities with over 1 million residents.
