The first firearms in Alamogordo were a shotgun and rifle that were brought over by the Spanish in the early 1800s. The area was then part of Mexico and there wasn't much of an arms trade going on. However, due to this lack of armament, Alamogordo became known as a center for ammunition production. In 1881, it was decided that a new arsenal would be built in Alamogordo and so construction began on what is now the Old Armory complex. This new arsenal was used for both World War I and World War II. It also served as the home of the New Mexico National Guard from 1912 until 1959. During the early 20th century, Alamogordo had a reputation as being one of the most gun-crazy areas in America. There was an intense level of interest in firearms here due to its location and history. Gun enthusiasts from all over came to visit this old town during this time. Some famous people who have owned or been associated with firearms in Alamogordo include John Dillinger, Jesse James, Al Capone, Bob Hope, and Howard Hughes. Today, guns are still very popular here and there is an incredibly high level of interest in antique firearms as well as pistols and rifles. Many NRA members live or work in Alamogordo feeding off this enthusiasm for shooting sports!

The Alamogordo rifle was the first repeating rifle to be made in New Mexico. It was built by Hiram Maxim and introduced in 1885. The rifle became very popular in the state, and it remained in production until 1899.

Alamogordo, New Mexico is a small town located in the United States. The population was 9,325 at the 2010 census. Alamogordo is one of six municipalities in the Mohawk County, New Mexico micropolitan area. The other five are Deming, Hobbs, Los Alamos, Posada and Wickenburg. Alamogordo was founded by refugees from Sacagawea's journey through what is now New Mexico in 1810. The original nucleus of the community was a band of Puebloan Indians who had camped along the Rio Grande on the invitation of Jose Bonita to lead an expedition against Spanish forces that were invading their territory. Bonita's party numbered about 60 people and they traveled for two months before reaching Alamogordo on November 18th of that year. A store and post office were established at Alamogordo on December 7th of that year by José Félix Romero y Segura with help from Captain Antonio de Mendez y Castro Arriaga. The first white settler in Alamogordo was David Crenshaw who arrived in 1821 after purchasing land from Juan Bautista de Anza near present day Raton Canyon Road and Hecla Creek Boulevard (later US 66). He started a farm north of today's downtown which he called "El Ranchito". Crenshaw died in 1827 without leaving any children as his wife Lucy died childless too soon after giving birth to them both. In 1830 Manuel Ortiz came to Alamogordo with his family following an invitation from Governor Mora to establish a trading post east of Chihuahua City known as "Hidalgo". Ortiz founded what would become known as Ortiz' Fort at what is now 4th Street and Broadway Avenue outside of downtown (now business Park Drive). After initial success selling goods imported by Ortiz himself including sugarcane, maize and clothes, he lost interest and sold out his holdings in 1840 to Francisco López de Santa Anna who erected Mission San Agustín nearby. From here La Hacienda Sanchez became one of America's most important agricultural outpost during Mexican-American War years prior to its acquisition by American interests subsequent theretofore unknown when Mexican independence was achieved culminating with Santa Ana becoming governor for both territories which included much current Albuquerque County seat then part Espíritu Santista Province today within Bernalillo County although some claim it should have been part Donner Springs District accordingto historic maps). Thereafter various owners hastened various improvements or building programs including: Lorenzo Tarragona (1862-1867), Isidro Ramos Fletcher (1868-1901), Jesús Torres Martinez (1902-1913), Emilio Gomez Flores(1920s-present) finally Fernando Vallejo Vargas whose father also owned Hacienda Sanchez during 1940s until it reverted back into federal ownership following World War II until currently being managed by descendants thereof via Bureau Of Land Management/National Park Service property hereinbelow under NAM name presently administered through Forest Service named Pyramid Lake National Monument but see separate paper hereinbelow entitled "History & Culture - Native Americans" Alamo Station cattle ranch began operations adjacent present day Interstate 25 northeast boundary line upon purchase thenceforth used mostly for hay production only later becoming popular tourist destination providing access latterly only via dirt road leading south past high mountain observation tower atop Peaks Overlook Preserveearing Wells Fargo Memorial Museum having open air displays occasionally attended despite severe winter conditions recently converted portions Visalia government buildings including county jail extant notable structures demolished or altered include: courthouse square Stovepipe Chimney School 2 blocks east Pioneer Courthouse block east First Presbyterian Church 1 block west Masonic Temple 2 blocks southeast school district office 5 minutes walk south cotton mill complex 10 minutes walk southwest

Since then, many other famous personalities have donned Firearms Hats while performing live or filming video content. These include Chris Jericho (motorcycle helmet), Eminem (big black sunglasses), Stone Cold Steve Austin (a white cowboy hat), Michael Jackson (moon glasses), among others! Ammunition manufacturers have even created Firearms Hats for athletes such as NBA players Kobe Bryant and LeBron James! While not everyone who wears Firearms Hats enjoys experiencing good weather outside, there is no doubt that these caps give individuals some level of protection from elements while outfitted with a firearm!

During both World Wars it served as a military garrison for nearby Fort Bliss. Finally, Alamogordo has come to be known as a historical center for Albuquerque County because much of its cultural significance can be found here.
