In 1924-27, Alma White organized what would become known as "the Strand Club" which meets monthly to discuss various topics such as artichoke romance novels appearing in magazines published by her club members (the Strand Club met Monthly at Alma White's house). This club also provided social activities for women living nearby such as playing card games or going out dancing with friends while they waited for their next issue of one of these popular magazines printed fortnightly outside the doorsteps of many homes throughout America during this time period
