This made it an ideal location for hunting animals, as well as for protection from raiders. In 1832, a man named George Washington bought some of the land around Woodland Park. He used it to build what is now known as the George Washington National Forest. The forest was created to protect the area from development, and also to provide opportunities for hunting and fishing. The first settlers in Woodland Park were men who lived near where the forest now stands. They were farmers who grew crops and hunted animals. In 1853, a group of women started living in Woodland Park. They were wives of soldiers who had served in the American Revolution. The women helped out their husbands while they fought for independence from Great Britain. The women soon realized that they wanted to stay in Woodland Park after their husbands died. They started making their own decisions about how to live life here. Some of them decided to keep housekeeping skills alive by running their homes themselves – this called “home economics” back then! Others decided to start businesses – some called them “women’s cooperatives”! still others decided to join together with other women to form a parish (a congregation) so they could pray together at one place! This was called “church planting” back then! After many years of growth and change, Woodland Park finally became a town on May 20th, 1902! The town had been growing slowly since it was founded, but when it became a town people wanted more services available to them like schools and healthcare! So they voted on which services they wanted – police force, fire department, library etc!. And voila!, Woodland Park got its first city hall!)
Woodland Park is a town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 34,711 at the 2010 census. Woodland Park was founded in 1873. The original name of the town was "Hempstead". The town's first post office opened on November 1, 1873, and the name of the town changed to "Woodland Park" on March 14, 1877. The first store in the town opened its doors on May 6, 1878. In 1886, Timberlake Avenue became a street in Woodland Park and also became one of the first streets in Bergen County to be named after an American president when James Buchanan Boulevard was renamed for Abraham Lincoln in 1889. In 1928, Voters passed a resolution renaming all of South Dakota Avenue from Hector Road to George Washington Boulevard because then-President Franklin D Roosevelt had been born there that year. This made Woodland Park one of only two towns along George Washington Boulevard in New Jersey (the other being Paterson). In 1954, voters passed a referendum asking if they would like to become part of Edison Electric Institute which would have added 30 miles (48 km) to the length of NorthJersey Expressway consequently making it one mile longer than current Interstate 287. In 1959 voters passed another referendum asking if they would like to annex portions of Hackensack and Passaic Counties into Woodland Park so their populations could merge as one municipality under one government structure with no county lines separating them anymore. The merger never happened as Hackensack and Passaic Counties voted against annexation by voting instead for their own individual municipalities which remain separate today as Township Of Westwood inside Bergen County while Hempstead Township outside it remains municipally unincorporated today despite some recent talk among officials about reincorporating it into either county should its population grow large enough again within reason or if new land becomes available within its boundaries since it has sit vacant for over 60 years now according to township records). It should be noted that this vote did not effect any change regarding zoning or building regulations within either municipality since these are still governed by state law regardless of whether or not they formally join Edison Electric Institute thereby maintaining their separate status quo even though residents living within either municipality may technically feel jurisdictional ties with those living within Edison Electric Institute due both municipalities’ histories partially overlap with each other albeit without any official connection between them whatsoever..

Woodland Park, New Jersey was established in 1868 as a township by the merger of four smaller townships. The township became a city in 1934. The population of Woodland Park was 382,362 at the 2000 census. In 2010, it had declined to 327,711. The first settler in what is now Woodland Park Township was George Washington Smith who arrived on July 5, 1814 and claimed land grant #1 from James Ketchum. On October 15th, 1814 Smith built his rude cabin near what is now the corner of Easton Road and State Highway 9A. A day later he erected a log cabin with ovens and other tools inside which he named his property "New Hope". On March 10th, 1830 Isaac Norris arrived at "New Hope" from Newark and claimed land grant #2 from James Ketchum. He named his new settlement "Norrisville". On November 12th 1830 Norris added another home to his holdings - this time called "Trenton Heights". It appears that Trenton Heights may have been located next to present-day University Avenue (now known as Spring Street). By 1848 there were three small settlements in what is now Woodland Park Township: New Hope (now occupied by Trenton Heights), Norrisville (later renamed Princeton), and Trenton Heights. By 1850 only Norrisville remained unchanged while all the others had changed their names; this includes Trenton Heights which had become Philadelphia County Borough called Mercer County on December 1st 1850 although it still bore the name Trenton Heights until 1870 when it reverted back to its original name of Princeton City Limits Borough due to boundary changes within Mercer County caused by Rutgers University's expansion program into that area.). In 1868 when Woodland Park Township merged with four other smaller townships, it may have been because residents wanted more space or money for their homes since these days are considered especially proud moments for the town because both Jersey City and Newark Federal Savings Bank were founded nearby during this time period making both cities even larger than they currently are thanks in part to their incorporation into municipalities respectively during those years- an event that has also been closely watched by historians over recent decades! The first post office opened in 1865 under the name of Farmington but changed its name to Nottingham on May 8th1867 after becoming too popular among neighboring communities who adopted similar names such as Newton Falls (now Sayre Hills) & North Caldwell (now North Brunswick)). Nottingham closed its doors on November 7th 1863 following complaints about long wait times for mail service!. The second post office opened at Ridgefield on January 3rd 1870 under the name of Parsippany after being chosen as one of two finalists along with Camden for the opening of a new post office west of Philadelphia due to growth within Essex County! Ridgefield served primarily as a military hospital between 1776-1783 during America's Revolutionary War era before becoming an agricultural center once again serving portions of Philadelphia proper including east Camden where Route 202 presently stands! Three years later Newark offered additional space adjacent to its current location south off Broad Street so Parsippany could stay open whilst continuing serve patients from eastern Camden; business flourished with several stores/cafés opening up throughout town catering specifically towards soldiers stationed nearby including Barracks Row barracks used by West Point Military Academy until 1903 when they moved out campus leaving much evidence behind such as artillery pieces stored on site still today! vernacular architecture characterized many early village buildings such as Old Parsippany Schoolhouse which can be seen standing today outside Ofsted rated grade II* complete with original bell tower & gable roof!, Residence House built around 1800 remain standing today(used as an event hall by IHOP restaurant) & Store building built c1850 remains unoccupied But saw extensive damage due fire in 2002!!! Although listed separately on THIS PAGE we include photos taken prior TO fire...and show most damage having already been repaired OR newer construction taking place inside!!?!? As soon as Morrisania became know acrossjersey through trading routes leading from Rahway/Gloucester Counties etc., donations started flowing in pour assist widows widowers orphans children dependents etc.......Many pioneers came here wagons loads full ol provisions given them free......Allowed no trade no nothing.........But slowly but surely people started coming thru bussesloads mornin' all week long..... arrivin' yesterday morning....We Became ACity..........Today We Are Still ATownship
