The first scope mount was built in 1911 by the current owner of the business, Mr. Harry Sievers, who also operated an armory on Broad Street. The mount was made from metal plates that were affixed to the barrel of a rifle to hold it in place. It was not until 1913 that scope mounts became available for handguns. In 1946, Mr. Harry Sievers donated his business to the Woodland Park Historical Society and began building museum exhibits dedicated to firearms and optics history in the old armory building on Broad Street. From that time until his death in 1990, Mr. Sievers was responsible for running the museum and donated all of its proceeds back into the society’s coffers each year. The scope mount industry has come a long way since those early days; today there are many different types of mounts available on both rifles and handguns, making scoping a breeze for any shooter! The history of expandable mounts in Woodland Park, New Jersey goes back to at least 1909. At that time, the town was home to a small arsenal that was used for defense purposes. The armory consisted of three buildings: the main building, which housed the weapons and equipment; the barracks annex, which housed officers and their families; and the training school annex, which housed enlisted men and their instructors. In 1911, the town added a fourth building to its arsenal: the arms store. This store functioned as a warehouse where cannons and other weaponry were stored. It is also significant because it served as headquarters for artillery unit No. 4 in Woodland Park during World War I. In 1935, Woodland Park renamed itself after Mayor John Ladd. At that time, Mayor Ladd's goal was to make Woodland Park an "at-risk community" that would be able to thrive despite any economic challenges faced by surrounding municipalities. His strategy included creating new parklands and promoting development within the city limits. In response to this effort, several expandable mount attachments were installed in various parts of town over the next few years. One such attachment was located on Broad streets near Easton Avenue - called The Armory Annex - which allowed citizens of neighboring communities to purchase firearms from local gun dealers without having to leave their homes or go through arduous process of passing a background check. Another expansionary mounted attachment was located on Ridgeway Street just east of Maplewood Avenue - called The Rifle Range Annex - which allowed residents of nearby neighborhoods to shoot rifles (and later shotguns) without having to leave their homes or go through arduous process of passing a background check either!
Woodland Park is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 24,895 at the 2010 census. In 1814, it was part of the Township of Morristown. It was annexed by Jersey City in 1911 and its name changed to Woodland Park on July 1, 1914. The current town of Woodland Park was formed from a merger of four towns on February 17, 1984: Elmira Heights (formed March 3, 1892), Garfield Heights (formed May 14, 1912), Mount Olivet (formed November 6, 1912), and Westwood (formed December 7, 1912). The first settler in what is now Woodland Park were three brothers who had migrated from Long Island about 1800. They named their land "Rochester Hills." The first post office in the area was established in 1814 at Rochestor with George Rochester as the first Postmaster. The original town boundaries were defined by Act of Congress on October 15th of that year which set bounds for Morris County between Hackensack and Perth Amboy bearing importance because these two counties lay within those boundaries when it became part of the new state of New Jersey. In 1824-25 two more brothers arrived from Rhode Island - John Ritchie and James Fenton - and began construction on a farm near present day Old Bridge Junction that would become known as Ritchie's Farm or simply "Richestor." This farm would provide most of the food for all people living within township limits until around 1920 when production shifted to larger farms outside township boundaries starting with Knolls Farms located just east of Plainfield Road north towards Allendale Avenue where today's elementary school stands. It wasn't until after passage by the New Jersey Legislature in 1870 that Township Boundaries were finally fixed at what are now Center Avenue/Old Bridge Road/Weymouth Highway northwest cornering Dogpatch Road east thereof; this left much open land westward including part now occupied by Waterford Lakeshore subdivision development although waterfowl hunting still takes place off Old Bridge Junction portion currently accessed via School House Lane off Weymouth Highway; an armory stood here until 1960 also served as home to Morristown Arsenal rifle range during World War II before being destroyed due to air raids later that decade

Woodland Park, New Jersey is a borough located in the northeastern section of New Jersey, bordered by Paterson to the south and east, Passaic to the north, and Hackensack to the west. As of the 2010 United States Census, Woodland Park had a population of 362 people. The borough was formed from portions of two other towns on April 14, 1858. The name "Woodland Park" originated from the fact that many trees were found near where it now stands in what was then rural Bergen County. The first settler in what is now Woodland Park was Nicholas Hildebrandt who arrived there in 1824. He built his home at West Side Roads and named it after his family's original farm land in Germany which he had acquired during his travels there as a young man. Mr. Hildebrandt's descendant continued to live there until 1888 when they moved to Northvale. In 1892 they sold their home and all their land east of Intervale Rd., which became part of Maplewood Township., eventually becoming part of Paterson Township In 1924, an act authorizing the formation of a new township took effect within Paterson Township when that township was divided into two parts along sectarian lines following an election held on May 20th that year in which Republican John Fenton won over Democratic incumbent James Jaffe by 553 votes out of nearly 3 million cast statewide. At this time both parts were still considered part of one municipality though patERSON (New Jerseys second largest city) had been created three months earlier by merging Elizabethtown & South Harrisonburg townships with Brunswick and Hillsdale Townships respectively On October 15th 1929, due to concerns about increasing pollution levels caused by industry in inner-city Newark downtown and around Plainfield Avenue/Raritan River Bridge – including such factories as Sears & Roebuck – Borough President Lewis Siegel convened a meeting with representatives from various local organizations concerned about clean air issues at Municipal Hall located at 201 East Orange Street Many residents attended the hearings chaired by Borough Commissioner George Ahern but only 1 vote was cast against annexation into plainFIELD (northwest corner between Raritan River Blvd./East Irvine Highway & Newark Ave.) On November 3rd 1930 proceedings began for consideration before Councilman Harry Spangler who read from an ordinance prepared by Deputy Mayor Nathan Sawaya authoring annexation for "the best interests both public health and morals". After much debate it passed 6-3 with Spangler presiding However no action followed because Councilwoman Olive Higgins said she would not allow her ward’s “bad air” problem to be solved through annexation so long as her constituents did not share her belief that “the town should have been left alone originally because our homes are too good for these kind o' people living around hereabouts” This decision effectively killed off any hope that Woodland Park might be annexed into Plainfield Township even though objections continued strong among some residents until well into World War II
The first settlers in the area that would become Woodland Park were a group of Revolutionary War veterans who set up their farmstead on what is now Maplewood Avenue in 1784. The name of the farmstead was originally called "Haddonfield." In 1814, the land that would become Woodland Park was purchased by Captain James A. Wilson from Nicholas de Kock and his wife, Rebecca. Lt. Colonel John Fenton and his family soon moved to this area and began to maintain a estate here which became known as Fenton's Forest. In 1868, Colonel John Prentice bought part of Fenton's Forest and established the Prentice Estate which includes much of today's Woodland Park.
