The optical accessories industry in Woodland Park, New Jersey dates back to the early 1800s. Until then, people used simple devices such as oil lamps and candles to see. One of the first industrial Optical Instrument Manufacturing companies was founded in 1825 in Bridgeport, Connecticut by Amos Ward and his brother-in-law, Nicholas Morrell. They began making lenses and other optics products for use with oil lamps and candles. In 1829 they startedproducing telescopes which soon became popular among amateur astronomers. By 1856 their company had become known as The Observatory Company of America (OICA). OICA produced a wide range of optical glassware including spectacles, microscopes, binoculars, telescopes, objective lens caps and eyepieces. In 1912 The Boston Optometric Company merged with OICA to form The Optical Society of America (OSA). OSA sponsored a variety of scientific conferences throughout the 1920s and 1930s to advance understanding of optics and light technology. Osa also developed new methods for manufacturing optic components such as filters, light valves and rear focusers for telescopes.During World War II OICA manufactured military glassware such as flare gunsights, prismatic objectives/mounts/cups/lenses/eyepieces etc.. After the war many OFOC members sold their businesses to other manufacturers or retired from production altogether; however some continuation operations were maintained until 1984 when all remaining optical businesses were combined into one organization called “OCTOPUS” Inc.. OCTOPUS continued producing quality optics products until it ceased operations on December 8th 2009

The company continued to produce optical equipment until 1984 when it merged with Sperry & Hutchinson Incorporated to form Sperry & Hutchinson Inc.
Woodland Park, New Jersey is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 24,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to enter what became Woodland Park were Dutch in 1624 and English in 1628. On July 1, 1764, the township was formed from parts of four other townships: Bergenfield (now Parsippany), Camden Township (now Camden), Somerville Township (now South Somerville), and West Chester Township (now West Chester). In 1814, part of Huntingdon Township was annexed to Woodland Park. In 1838, Huntingdon and portions of Clinton Townships were combined into another new township called Morrisania; this merged with Woodland Park on February 11, 1847. On December 6th of that year – one hundred years after Woodland Park's incorporation – the last vestige of Hunterdon County vanished when it was included within Morris County as well. In 1881, an act to annex Hackensack Valley Borough resulted in the creation of a second new township called Lawrenceville which joined Morrisania on January 1st that year. On May 15th 1898 – almost seventy five years after incorporation – both Lawrenceville and Morrisania were folded back into Woodland Park when that borough became independent again under state jurisdiction following the US Census Bureau's report "What does this mean for us?" That same year saw also the first annexation by local municipalities of adjacent areas including North Hillsborough Borough which became known as Paramus on October 20th 1898 followed by Floral Heights Borough on November 4th 1899 before finally reaching its current size with full incorporation on December 6th 1902. On March 25th 1907 - ninety three years since becoming one municipality - Morristown annexed all but two blocks from neighboring Elmira until their merger with Highlandtown effective June 30th 1908 forming what is now our eastern edge along I-70/I- 95 highway just south of Summit Avenue between those two communities..A final annexation took place on April 12nd 1912 when East Rutherford took over much of Glen Rock westward from Paramus Boulevard while Monmouth Junction absorbed most or all eastbound lanes coming off I-95 northbound just south of Route 381 /Route 287 junction

Woodland Park is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,811 at the 2010 census. Woodland Park was formed on April 1, 1920 from portions of Hackensack and Teaneck. It is part of the Passaic Valley metropolitan area. The borough is located in the heart ofNJ's Pullman-Middlesex County region and borders Hackensack to the north, Midtown to the east, Teaneck to the south and South Plainfield Township to the west. The Borough was first settled by Germans who arrived in 1814 as part of German colonization of New Jersey. In 1824, Willard Waddell donated land for a public park in what would become Woodland Park. In 1925, sections of Monmouth and Morris counties were combined into Bergen County; Woodland Park remained within Bergen County until 1970 when it became a borough within New Jersey's new 10th Congressional District which included all but eastern Passaic County. On March 12th 1970 (the date that Borough Council decided not to annex Summit) Borough Council approved annexation by Union City with a 3-2 vote despite objections from residents there about their lack of exclusive control over their own destiny within this new district - an issue that remains unresolved today
In 1764, the first Anglo-Dutch settlers in what is now Woodland Park, New Jersey began to arrive. They were led by Capt. John Woolridge and his wife Margarita. The Woolridge family built a house on the current site of Princeton University in 1765. The name Princeton was given to the school in 1768 by Sir George Washington as part of an effort to raise money for the new college. In 1800, William Livingston purchased land east of Princeton from the Woolridges and founded²⁴ Livingston Manor, which became one of the most prosperous areas in New Jersey.²⁵ In 1815, Abraham Lincoln was born in Woodland Park and educated at nearby Lawrence Academy before moving to Springfield, Illinois, where he worked as a lawyer and political organizer. He returned to New York City in 1832 and resumed his career as a politician until he was elected president that year. He lived at Mount Vernon from 1835 until his death in 1865.
