Woodland Park is a town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Woodland Park were Dutch explorers in 1624 who named it "Willemstadt". In 1814, James K. Polk sent troops as part of his successful invasion of Mexico and named one of their camps after General George Washington's home state of Virginia - Fort Washington near Potomac River. In 1881, the new county was formed from parts of Middlesex and Union counties and it included some areas that would later become Woodland Park. In 1896, the name was changed to Bergen County when portions were added to Passaic and Hudson counties. Manual lasers sights use a hand-held mirror to project the target onto the rifle’s barrel. Electronic laser sights use an electronic signal to control a light source that is then used to sight into the target. There are various advantages and disadvantages to both types of laser sights, but they both play an important role in firearms training and shooting. The first Laser Sight was designed by Tom Doherty in 1979. The Laser Sight was designed as a way for shooters to see what their target looks like when it is up close. It consisted of two parts: a mirror and an image sensor. The mirror was attached to the barrel which could be rotated so that either positive or negative images were projected onto it depending on which direction you pointed the gun at your target (left/right). The image sensor was mounted on top of the mirror which allowed you to view real-time images of your targets using just your eyesight instead of relying on charts or other object displays. In 1990, Brownells introduced their own version of the Laser Sight called “The Big Red One” which featured four illuminated dots on each side of the sighting window - making it easier for those with poor vision or who have difficulty seeing beyond about 20 feet away from their target. This type of sight also used backlight LCD technology so it would not conflict with other activities around a person such as reading email or watching television; however, its brightness had to be controlled manually in order notSun glare off objects inside the viewing window (this proved difficult for some people). In 1992, Accuracy International released their own version called “Black Diamond” which featured adjustable turrets that allowed users to adjust between 50mm and 7mm rounds while still using standard Weaver mounts (it also came with an adjustable windage turret). However, this sight attracted much criticism because its adjustment range was very limited compared to other lasersights available at that time; furthermore, since Black Diamond required special Weaver mounts only available from certain retailers, it became more expensive than most other laser sights available at that time (it eventually became known as “The Gunsight Empire”). In 1995, Nikon Corporation released their own versions of both Black Diamond and accuracy international's designs dubbed "The Sniper." The first laser sights were developed in the early days of the Laser Age. The use of lasers to sight firearms was first demonstrated in 1968 by a team led by Donald W. Swanson at MIT. The Laser Sighting Association (LSA) was formed to promote and develop laser sights, and in 1974, the US Patent 7,965,822 was granted to John A. Metzger for his design of a green lighted aiming system using two phased collimated beams from a single laser tube. This system allowed shooters to hit targets with great accuracy using only their eyesight.
Woodland Park is a borough in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located on the eastern edge of New York City. As of the 2010 Census, Woodland Park had a population of 24,827. The name was chosen because it reminded people of the woods near their home in upstate New York. The first Europeans to visit what is now Woodland Park were French traders in 1624 and 1625 who named it for Laforest (now part of Newark), France. In 1764, George Washington chartered an area including what is now Woodland Park as Township No. 7 on his estate at Mount Vernon near Princeton. The township was renamed Burlington Township in 1837 by Act No 9 of that year after Burlington County, New Jersey had been created from parts of Middlesex and Essex Counties eastward from Philadelphia. In 1849, Rockaway Borough was formed from portions of Burlington Township and placed within Rockaway Township limits; however, Rockaway never gained full independence until 1959 when it amalgamated with neighboring Van Horn Borough to become Woodland Park Borough President Joseph Sarno proclaimed October 1st "Joseph Sarno Day" in honor of the founder and first president of both districts
Woodland Park was founded in 1881 by the merger of two small villages, West Milford and East Milford. The town center was platted in 1885 and the first post office opened in 1886. In 1911, the town became a borough and then a city when it annexed the neighboring village of East Rutherford. The population of Woodland Park reached 100,000 by 1951. In 1974, Woodland Park merged with nearby Paramus to form new City of Paramus.
