By 1876, Ten Bosch had grown to include a grocery store, hospital, schoolhouse and barn. In 1899, Woodlands Park was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature; it became one of 14 municipalities statewide that year. The borough's first mayor was James Ritchie (1902-04). At its incorporation, WoodlandsPark had a population of 1,200 people; by 1950 it hadgrown to 3,500 residents. During that time period the municipality purchased large tracts of land underlying Hackensack River for housing development; these developments included Ridgewood Gardens (now known as Far Hills), Southdale Village (now known as Glen Rock), and Northwood Highlands (now known as Hillside Heights). From 1945 until 1996 when township status was restored to WoodlandsPark following Hurricane Alicia*, Shoreacres Township withinHackensack Township* served as its governing body*. As part of township government changes effective February 2nd 1998* all village/township based services were consolidated into one single entity -the Borough Council* (* after 1995 Townships were abolished) which also comprised Mayor *James Ritchie(*since 2002). Within Borough Council there are five members elected at-large *(as per NJ state law*) who serve staggered four-year terms starting January 1st each year then must vacate their posts for two years before being replaced by their successors* (* since 2002 only three councilmembers are appointed for life) .Council meetings are held on the third Wednesday morning at 7:00 Pm.* *.

Woodland Park is a borough in New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,004 at the 2010 census. It is located on the north-central edge of the New York metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Woodland Park were the French in 1624 and 1627; they arrived as part of an expedition led by Colonel John Wall. The French named it "La Ville de la Prairie" (the City of Prairie). In 1795, a group of Englishmen under Lieutenant Colonel Edward Braddock explored and charted the Ohio Valley and its tributaries, including what is now Woodland Park. They discovered what they thought was land that would form part of their colony, but which instead became Pennsylvania. The British abandoned their plan to establish a colony in North America after losing the battle of Monmouth on August 15, 1794. While still under British control, some Dutch settlers moved into what is now Woodland Park from Paramus and Hackensack in 1801. Some German settlers also moved into this area during this time period – one family had a farm called "Grosse Union" between Germantown Avenue and West 100th Street until it was destroyed by fire in 1908. On February 14, 1814, President James K. Polk signed Executive Order No. 1 creating Mount Airy Township according to township boundaries established at that time by Order No 2 issued two days earlier by Vice President Andrew Johnson with respect to parts of Camden County east of White Horse Creek/Easton Road/Old Mill Road due to increasing population density within those areas due to transportation improvements made since then by both local municipalities as well as neighboring townships when available public lands had been drained for development purposes or other reasons while portions thereof remained undeveloped pursuant to order no 3 dated January 10 following meetings held at Easton Township Hall on January 5 & 7 inclusive thereto among members thereof relative thereto) . On July 1st 1865 all sections south #4 mile wide & east boundary line incline northerly 30 degrees westerly 4 degrees 25 minutes so much so that section has become #8 mile wide thence easterly 20 miles longitude being 301 degrees latitude

This location became the nucleus for what is now Woodland Park. In 1714, the property along Trenton River was purchased by Peter Minuit and his brother-in-law, Nicholas Easton. They named their new plantation "New Netherland" after New Netherland, Netherlands. The first houses were built on the site in 1716. In 1812, the Morris family acquired 640 acres of land on the north side of Woodlands Park from Nicholas Easton and began to grow maize there. The Morrises were influential landowners in northern New Jersey and played an important role in developingthe community. In 1870, John Waddell founded what is now Newark's first paper company, Waddell Paper Company. Waddell Paper Company functioned as a major force in early Newark's industrial growth and helped create jobs for many people. In 1933, Waddell Paper Company merged with United States Steel Corporation to form United States Steel Corporation - one of America's largest companies at that time - which later became part of Carrier Corp., one of America’s largest shipping companies
