Woodbury was founded in 1788 by the Reverend John Woodbury. It is a borough in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 18,865. In 1814, one hundred acres of land were donated by Judge Abraham Fisher to be used as part of what would become known as "The Borough". In 1868-69, construction started on what would become known as "The Wall" which consisted of an iron wall around the entire borough that served as both border between different sections and defense against invasions from outside. This wall remains today as one of only two remaining physical walls remaining in Atlantic City - the other being The Battery which now functions as a park overlooking The Wall. It wasn't until 1898 that Edison's Electric Light Company came through town with their first light switch installation within the bounds of Woodbury. That same year saw enactment Of Prohibition which made alcohol illegal within township limits making it difficult for many people to get hold of this much needed commodity during those early days before automobiles arrived into town...a time when getting around without driving was often more efficient than using public transportation! In 1906, portionofthewallwas destroyed due to Hurricane Agnes while still standing portions remain today providing some unique views from atop The Wall equation!

Woodbury, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,651 at the 2010 census. The name Woodbury comes from the Shawanese word wod-buri meaning "wooded place". The first settler in what is now Woodbury was Nicholas de Montresor who arrived on horseback in 1685. He founded a farm and named it after his friend and patron saint, Thomas Woodbine of Canterbury. In 1701 John Wentworth erected a gristmill here and began to produce flour for sale in nearby Paterson. By 1800, over 100 businesses operated in the town. In 1814, General George Washington leased 1/6 of Section 10 of Township 10 North from Dutchman Hendrick van Rensselaer for $5 an acre based on the theory that this would become an agricultural corner where settlers could grow crops for export to Great Britain. This area became known as Van Rensselaer's Patent Place because of this agreement. A years later, Senator Clinton bought this land from Hendrik van Rensselaer for $10 per acre (the equivalent of $ today). The first school in what is now Woodbury opened its doors on October 12th1814 with 8 students and one teacher. It was built by Reverend Nicholas Coles under the direction of Governor James Monmouth Jr.. The first postmaster general in America was also born here – Samuel Morse – while working at Wappingers Falls Railroad Station located two blocks north of present day Main Street between Nassau Avenue and Spring Street (now part of Old Bridge University Campus). One local legend has it that when President George Washington died he left behind instructions that his body should be buried near Wappingers Falls so that others might find him if they lost faith in God during his lifetime; however no evidence exists to support this claim either historically or legally.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Woodbury had a population of 24,172 in 2000. The median household income was $50,594 and the median family income was $60,957. The% of residents below the poverty line was 9%.
