Woodbury, New Jersey is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 10,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mercer County. As of the 2000 United States Census, Woodbury had a total population of 9,566. The first settlers arrived in 1795 and named the township after General Nicholas Woodbury who helped campaign against British forces during the American Revolution. In 1802, Governor George Washington granted Northumberland Township to Mercer County and it became known as Woodbury Township. The first school opened in 1807 in what is now Grace Chapel on Main Street. A post office was established at Woodbury in 1809 and remained in operation until 1860. In 1870, following the construction of the Erie Canal through Mercer County, many new residents moved to town and started businesses such as butcher shops, flour mills and several churches which remain today including Grace Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church (founded 1809), First Baptist Church ( founded 1800) and Second Baptist Church ( founded 1847). In 1905–1906 referendum question was placed on local ballots whether to annex onto Camden Township which then had a population over 100 000 but no vote because only white citizens could be elected officials there; however due to low voter turnout all annexations were successful with Camden becoming an official municipality on December 12th 1906 by virtue of its incorporation into Mercer County under that name only two days later without any vote or discussion amongst its citizens! During World War II many people from nearby towns like Bordentown came to work for defense industries within our town since we had few options available outside of working for government or industry After the war many residents left town due to lack of job opportunities while others chose not to move because they felt their former home would remain unchanged

Woodbury is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, Woodbury had a population of 9,898. The borough was founded on April 12, 1856 by members of the First Congregational Church and became part of Morris County on January 1, 1899. Woodbury is located in the southeast corner of Morris County and is bordered by Glassboro to the east and Maple Shade to the west. The first settler in what would become Woodbury was George Wilkinson who arrived from Delaware in 1784. Wilkinson befriended James McConnell who then offered him land for farming purposes. The first post office was established at Woodbury on October 27, 1824 with Wm Hough as first postmaster. In 1829, John Dickinson moved his family to what would become Woodbury from Easton Township due to health concerns following an epidemic that struck Philadelphia that year. In 1830-31 Isaac Stout bought 2 acres (0.81 km2) east of present-day Market Street from Phebe Plank and erected a cabin thereon known as Stout’s Cabin which still stands today within walking distance of town hall. It was during this time period that Stout startedjadjing wines made from fruit trees he grew along Market Street southwest of where he now resides –today’s Third Ward–and sold them directly to customers through his doorsteps starting around 1830-31 when Route 30 crossed over into town from Rahway Township near Nowell’s Tavern). In 1835-36 German immigrant Johannes Bielefeldt purchased two additional acres (1 km2) northeast of present day Second Avenue for $200 plus 50 cents per acre (0.15 m²) for every male inhabitant above the age of 16 years; this area became known as Bielefeldt Park after him and remains one today! This purchase also marked the beginningof an agricultural dynasty which continues today with more than 400 residents registered with New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station LLC., Rabbit Run Farms & Vineyards Inc., & Forest Hills Estates LLC.) On July 10th 1861 trustees elected David Sibley as Mayor pro tempore with Jacob Weisbach serving as Vice Mayor until November 15th when Sibley resigned due to ill health caused by “a severe cold contracted while at home sick” effective December 15th 1861; Weisbach took over mayoral duties until November 15th 1863 when Sibley returned having been appointed by Governor Andrew Johnson so long as “the public good will be attended thereto without any personal interest therein…He has always disinterestedly discharged all hisMayorial duties”). On October 25th 1865 Abraham Freeman Sr., father of future Ulysses Ira Freeman served as Trustee for life drawing upon funds received from sale/leasehold extension campaign conducted jointly by township officials Samuel Teague (1820-1901), Jno Gorman (1826-1900), Chas Murchison (1800-1874), Nathaniel Jarvisite Jr.(1783-1859) & Lewis Frye(1792-) –all men citizens or former citizens who had resided continuously in their respective townships for 3 years or more prior to election date& Daniel Burnham served anonymously on City Council since its inception being succeeded only once (& temporarily vacated due to death/invalidity) before finally retiring effective February 4th 1870 succeeding Ebenezer Bancroft). A new building constructed on property adjoining Second Avenue between Eighth and Ninth Streets between 1865 - 68 cost $6000+& it housed both courtsmartial exercises associated with American Civil War veteran August Abbott which preceded actual military service engaged in vicinity including Battle Of Gettysburg taking place nearby just southwest [then] across Fourth Street & southwest [now] across Robertstown Road opposite old Union Mills Inn); courtmartial exercises were also held hereabouts concurrently w/ military engagements fought adjacent Mt Laurel Farmstead about 6 miles northwest Monmouth Junction NJ during same timeframe –referred to hereinbelow collectively under separate heading: Battles Of Gettysburg). During Reconstruction following region's return TO THE UNITED STATES following Civil War various businesses were opened including grocery store operated by Henery Radcliffe aka Raffles Woolen Mills successors continued thru early 20th century but closed circa 1915; electric light plant built 1890'; steam engine supplied water supply necessary for millinery operations commenced 1916; wood burned buildings replaced circa 1920-. Many residents formed nucleus founding families such as Gibbsons occupied much later portions now inside Borough limits ecclesiastical side streets forming gridiron pattern like street name boundaries etc.; surnames such as Abramsky Bruckman etc.) Today many descendants reside outside village limits yet strong community spirit persists among villagers especially kids playing catch together at West Side Soccer Complex Volunteer Fire Department operates ambulance services providing EMS coverage 5 days a week 12 hours per day response bias free housing developments exist within limits allowingResidents accesstonapoleonically named park located just north [then]east [now]of village center comprising approximately .5 sq mi (.16 km2)]
