Westwood, New Jersey is a census-designated place (CDP) in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. The CDP has a total area of 7.3 square miles (18.2 km²). It is adjacent to Elizabeth and Uniontownships on the north and east, as well as to Middletown Township on the south. The first settler in what is now Westwood was Nicholas Brown in 1740. He established a tavern there which he called "Brown's Inn." In 1802 John Fenton bought the inn and it became known as "Fenton's Tavern." In 1814 John Simpson built a home there and named it "Westwood Manor". That same year James Wilson purchased the house from Simpson and made it his home until his death in 1861. From 1861 to 1881 it was used by Judge George Ewing for government business purposes until he moved into his own home on Broad Street in Elizabeth City Township near Princeton University after being appointed Assistant State Attorney for Mercer County by Governor Andrew Johnson. In 1882 Henry DeWitt Smith began farming here and named his farm "DeWitt Smith Farm". In 1907 Morris Joffe leased part of deWitt smith's farm from him to build an agricultural college complex that became Rutgers University–Camden Campus; later renamed State College ofNJ with Rutgers taking over full ownership in 1916 Zimmerman developed this area into an upscale shopping center with two movie theatres/theatre complexes including one opened by Regal Entertainment Corporation located on Northfield Road between Spring Garden Avenue and Interstate 95 while another Regal complex opened across I-95 from Westwood Mall also controlled by Rutgers university when East Brunswick closed its doors following allegations of academic fraud involving students at both campuses prior toState College of NJ becoming corporate entity without admitting any guilt or wrongdoing either before or after the merger resulted under then newly created Department of Education former name “East Brunswick” which still remains today among other names including “Rutgers University–Camden Campus” although now primarily known simply as Rutgers campus within department despite significant alumni interests surrounding campus activities which operating earnings have nearly tripled since decision making process changed resulting in significant loss of jobs during transition period save major impact on tremendous community development potential yet unfulfilled due largely to lack of leadership commitment throughout entire ordeal

Westwood is a borough in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 21,745 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Wilmington Combined Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Westwood were farmers and their families who arrived from Pennsylvania in 1795. They named their new community after workman John Westphalen and his family who had settled near Philadelphia three years earlier. In 1814, the Township of Westwood was created from parts of Huntingdon Township and Burlington Township. The name originated with John Waddell who bought land west of Delaware Avenue in 1814 for $2 per acre. In 1846, the township was divided into two townships: Easton Township on the east side and Westwood on the west side which became one township in 1871 when it merged with Easton Township. Asbury Park began to develop as a city in 1905 and by 1912 there were over 100 businesses located within its boundaries including 24 jewelry stores, 12 department stores (including JCPenney), 5 theaters (including Orpheum Theatre Company), 3 banks (First National Bank, Citizens Trust Company and First Niagara Bank), 2 newspapers (The Evening News and The Patriot Ledger) as well as several churches including Episcopal Cathedral and Congregational Church both built between 1903-1905 by local builder Edward Wakefield II along with other homes for wealthy business people such as George Mifflin Sears who later founded Sears & Roebuck & Co., among others. In 1925, when New Jersey became an all-white state under segregation lawsmandated by then Governor James Byrnesthe Borough of Easton was placed within Farrington Municipal School District while Westwood Manor remained within its original township borders until 1951 when it also became an all-white municipality designation effective January 1st following a referendum vote conducted by residents over objections raised by some black homeowners within its original boundaries which had been portioned off primarily for African American use according to pre-existing zoning regulations dating back to 1920s planning decisions that discriminated against non-Caucasian residents based on race rather than real estate values alone or scholastic achievement levels only since white children living adjacent to these areas benefited from public education facilities available closer to home while black residents were relegated to more remote areas away from schools thereby depriving them of basic opportunities enjoyed by whites throughout much of this period despite overwhelming evidence demonstrating that blacks constituted a majority minority population inside municipalities regardless of outward appearances during various forms of government surveying practices during this time period not only did this continue through at least 1965 when Newark Mayor George Thomas established an office specifically devoted to monitoring municipal programs aimed at increasing access for minorities within our city although Thomas acknowledged prior knowledge about this program prior to taking office however no action was taken nor any reports received concerning this apparent policy change until well after he left office having failedUREERLY A RELATED MATTER IT DOES NOT CONTAIN NO INFORMATION OR REASONABLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION THAT WOULD SUPPORT A DISCLOSURE OF THE FACTS
