However, other businesses such as Meyers Vintners reopened temporarily until 1949 because no new stores could be built near Turnpike Road where all three buildings had been destroyed in 1945 during World War II bombings). After years of debating among city officials and community members alike over nearly two decades, Westwood finally approved its own zoning ordinance on May 15th 1956 making it one of only two municipalities in New Jersey without any form of zoning regulations at that time; this allowed for more commerce within its borders rather than being restricted by restrictive covenants from previous developers which often led to stagnation or decline over time.
