The first guns were used in Wallington, New Jersey on December 12, 1777. The town was founded by British settlers in 1775 and it soon became a stop on the Continental Line. The town came to be known for its firearms production, as well as its tradition of hunting deer and other game. The town's arsenal was one of the largest in New Jersey when it opened in 1812. It continued to be an important center for gun production until the early 20th century. In the late 19th century, Wallington began to experience a decline in population and economic activity due to railroad construction and other industrialization outside of the town. However, there has been recent growth throughout Wallington due to new development and resurgences in local agricultural businesses.

The town of Wallington, New Jersey was founded in 1798 by General James Webb and his family. The area that now includes Wallington was part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland until it was Sullivan County in 1821. In 1864, the New Jersey Legislature transferred most of Sullivan County to Sussex County, including Wallington. On November 15, 1865, Wallington incorporated as a borough from portions of Sussex and Union counties. The borough's first mayor was John Witherspoon. In 1886, the Borough Council voted to annex what is now North Brunswick Township toWallington. In 1893-1894, the boroughs merged into one municipality called "New Brunswick". On October 14, 1947 (the day after World War II ended), newly created Mercer County annexed parts ofWallington zoned for agriculture with the intent to create a contiguous city-county area on the eastern border of Mercer County with Camden City. However this annexation did not take place because Wallington's zoning ordinance did not allow for an urban center within its borders without prior approval from the municipal government. In 1949-1950, when Atlantic City became an open-air casino and hotel complex through an agreement between state senator Raymond Buckley (D) and then-mayor Julius Erving (D), Wallington began to experience economic decline due in part to competition from Atlantic City. In 1951-1952, Mayor Julius Erving issued resolutions calling for a ban on casinos inWallington and for casino gambling be outlawed throughout all Of New Jersey; however these resolutions were never put into effect because Buckley refused to sign them despite pressure from Erving himself.. In 1957-1958 Mayor Julius Erving formed a committee composed mostly of business people interested in developing Striped River Casino located adjacent to Watchung Reservoir off Route 9 near where today's Princeton Avenue meets Route 9A - which would have been the world's first privately funded casino - but no development occurred because lack of funding caused by recession led Buckley also to refuse involvement.. Wallington, New Jersey is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,529 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern shore of Wallington Lake and is part of the New York City metropolitan area. The borough was created on December 1, 2001 from portions of Essex County. The name "Wallington" comes from two sources: one originates from an early Dutch settler's spelling of "Wallein", meaning "vale," and another derives from a Native American word meaning "a place where huckleberries are grown." In 1814, Nicholas-Jacques Hennepin discovered coal tar near what would later become Wallington Township and named the site after his friend and mentor Nicholas-Jacques Conte. In 1794, John Nicholson settled in what is now Wallington Township; he had come overland from Newark and worked for Colonel Robert Morris in building up Morristown as an important trading post on the Hackensack River. Nicholson also built a small house hereon which he called his home until his death in 1848. Captain Lewis Morris (1781–1846), son ofCaptain John Morris (1685–1751), who had arrived in America with Governor William Tryon and General George Washington's forces at Trenton during the Revolutionary War, purchased Nicholson's house soon after its construction and continued to use it until his death in 1892. He bequeathed it to his son Lewis Fenton Morris Jr., who donated it to Princeton University in 1906 as part of the Lewis Fenton Morris Library Foundation gift program. During World War II many people residing within Wallington Township served their country either through military service or National Guard duty; these include: Major General James Biddle (USA), Lieutenant Colonel Harry Ponce (USA), Sergeant First Class Leonard SAWYER (USA) – all three were inducted into the Military Intelligence Service Hall of Fame this year; Warrant Officer 2nd Class Alvin CAMPBELL (Australia) – Campbel was wounded while serving with Company D 174th Infantry Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom on October 25th 2003; Corporal Anthony Buccieri – Buccieri died when his unit was ambushed by insurgents near Baghdad’s Green Zone Presidential Palace on November 5th 2004; Staff Sergeant Noam Chomsky – Chomsky was fatally shot outside an apartment complex near Fallujah by members of Task Force Alpha during Operation Neptune’s Spear on January 25th 2006 Sgt First Class Timothy McVeigh - McVeigh killed 168 innocent people & injured more than 600 others inside Oklahoma City federal building before detonating explosivesitan began that day

Wallington is a town in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 17,813 at the 2010 census. Wallington was founded in 1838 by John Lancaster and his family. The first post office was established in Wallington on April 14, 1839. In 1847, the name of the town changed to Westward Township due to the growing settlement of that area by English Americans fleeing religious persecution in Great Britain. In 1865, Wallington became part of Camden County and absorbed what were then two other towns - Highland Park and East Orange - making it one of the most populous municipalities in Camden County. As Camden County grew more diverse with waves of Italians and Irish coming to work in manufacturing plants throughout the 1990s and 2000s, some people began referring to Wallington as "Little Italy". The township's economy has been based largely on manufacturing since its founding; however, recent years have seen a increase in service jobs within local businesses as well as retailing around the township center. Many residents are also involved with volunteer organizations such as American Veterans for Liberty or First Presbyterian Church of Westward Township which helps support local schools.
Wallington was a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. It was taken from Wallington Township on February 14, 1864, by act of the New Jersey Legislature under the name of Springfield Township. On December 12, 1869, it became part of Hackettstown.
