Union City, New Jersey is a town in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 27,391 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous town in Union County after Paterson and is home to the GEICO Stadium. The first post office in Union City was established on March 4, 1824. The community of Union City was originally settled by Germans in the early 1800s who soon built their own homes and businesses. By the 1850s, many other European immigrants had also arrived in what was then rural Union County. A few years later, a new post office called "Union" was established and served residents of both towns until it closed its doors in 1869. In 1865, a group of nine businessmen - five men and four women - pooled their money to build a school for poor children on Main Street in Union City. Classes began there on October 1st and continued until 1937 when it burned down due to arson by students. In 1889, John Hylan founded the paper company J Hylan Paper Company here which continues today as one of the largest paper companies in North America with tentacles around the world including operations in Europe and Asia. Many prominent people were born or raised here such as Hamilton Fish (D-New York), Belle Samuels (F-Texas), Edwin Meese (R-Washington D.) and Donald Trump Jr.. The city's nickname "The Birthplace of American Politics" comes from this fact; during the political campaigns of 1800s candidates often campaigned out of town because they could not travel to Paterson which at that time remained an agricultural center with only 3% registered voters statewide! A major attraction for visitors is GEICO Stadium which opened its doors on September 10th 2006 as part of RecreationCorp's $1 billion redevelopment project that includes more than 12 acres (5 hectares) of parkland along with 400 jobs across 20 sectors including construction, hospitality/restaurant services etc...the stadium has been host to several international matches including Euro 2004 football championships held there as well as Judo bouts between New York State Pool & USA Judo Federation matches...

During World War II, Union City played an important role as both an airfield servicing fighter planes based at nearby Farmingdale Air Force Base and as a munitions production plant producing nails, rubber gloves and other materials used by Allied forces during World War II. After the war ended, much of the city's downtown business district deteriorated due to disuse or neglect while portions experienced rapid growth in recent decades such as new housing developments adjacent to major transportation hubs like PATH train stations or buses that connected Union City with larger metropolitan areas like Newark or JerseyCity

Kapp built a gristmill thereon and became president of First National Bank of Auldtown which he founded with other early investors in 1851. In 1865, Samuel Morse donated land to be used as a public square in Auldtown which became known as Morse Square due to its location within that square. The first post office was established at Morse Square on January 1, 1865 by Order of Governor Johanna Molineux with David Burr as Postmaster General concurrent with Samuel Morse's gift; this office closed on July 12th 1870 due to mergers among various post offices around NJ during that time period).
