In 1865, the company merged with Colt’s Manufacturing Company. From 1865-1868, Union City produced cannons and ammunition. The end of World War I led to a decline in production at this factory as weapons were no longer needed. However, there was a resurgence in production after the Second World War when new firearms became popular. In 1967, the company merged with Swift Industries Limited which made assault rifles and handguns. After the merger, Union City became one of the largest gun manufacturers in the world. Today, Union City manufactures a wide range of firearms including shotguns, handguns, cannons and ammunition.

By 1825, there were six gun parts stores operating in Union City. In 1861, the city became part of New Jersey when it was created from portions of Middlesex County and Hunterdon County. Union City continued to be a center for gun Parts manufacturing throughout the 19th century until World War II when production shifted to greater distances due to wartime demand. Union City is a city in New Jersey, United States. It is the third-largest city in New Jersey after Newark and Jersey City. The population of the city was 83,028 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the New York metropolitan area. The Port Authority Bus Terminal–Union Station is located in Union City. In 1824, John Stevens founded what would become Union City on land he purchased from Joseph Cotten for $2,000 (). Stevens built a log cabin on his property which still stands today (now used as office space by Google). In 1829, he opened a store called The Store at Seventh and Market Streets. By 1830, Stevens had developed a small town with his store and residences at 7th and Market Streets. In 1835, Nicholas Hahn bought land near present-day Penns Grove to establish Hahnstown Township. On November 16th that year, Hahn submitted to the state of New Jersey an ordinance establishing Union City as an incorporated municipality with its own board of commissioners (). The first election in Union City occurred on April 6th, 1836 when Aaron Burr was elected commissioner () to serve out the unexpired term of James Kapp (who had been appointed by Governor Tryon). At that time there were only three voting members: one commissioner from each township (), one each from Rahway Township and Hackensack Township (), and one elector from Burlington County (). It should be noted that this convention did not have any power beyond issuing ordinances; no taxes were levied until 1840 when Burlington County raised 5% ($10) per capita on all taxable property within its limits (). However because it did have some jurisdiction over matters such as street paving and building permits it quickly became known as "the go-between" between municipalities - something which continues to this day! On July 1st 1840, both Rahway Township () and Hackensack Township () merged into Union City while Burlington County seceded until 1865 when they rejoined as well (+3 more elector positions!). This left just two townships remaining in NJ – Middlesex Borough () & Mercer County Borough (); however due to mergers & splits throughout NJ during this time period most public records have been lost or destroyed so we can't really know much about these towns’ histories anymore! Finally on December 12th 1865 Princeton University withdrew their affiliation with Rutgers University making them independent again...sorta...but never really integrating into society properly again though! =(=;;; The first school in Union City was opened up by Reverend Samuel Morse along with Mr Tanner who taught reading/writing to “colored children” south of Broad Street (later called Washington Avenue). Morse also donated funds for construction of a schoolhouse which eventually housed three schools total – First Presbyterian School (1846), Second Presbyterian School (1849), Third Presbyterian School (1875). This building still stands today next door to First Unitarian Church (& across I-95)! Classes started in September 1847 but due to financial difficulties ceased operations due to overcrowding soon afterwards.. In 1850 local engineer George Stephenson designed & constructed what would become known as Stephenson Hall - now home to State College OfNJ!. During this time period many large businesses such as Pemberton Paper Company& Edison Brothers Manufacturing Co., Inc., were established including Federal Life Insurance Company& Mutual Life Insurance Company,... There was also great growth happening along Route 66 - starting out small enough for people like Elias Howe Sr.( admittedester at Wetherby Academy )to open a general store before becoming quite populous with various stores starting up all around him! grocer Acheson's corner shop being perhaps the largest!!! Eventually Federico Caruso set up shop right next door later becoming famed Italian American singer/songwriter =]=;; After Reconstruction following America's civil war era there continued rapid growth thanks largely to manufacturing jobs created by firms such as General Electric etcetera ;) Although now considered primarily a bedroom community for higher income families residing near Morristown or Princeton it has actually seen some redevelopment over recent years culminating in sizable projects like Stroudsburg Waterfront Park (!), new highrise developments downtown etcetera... So while you may not always see someone walking down 7th Street just south of Main Street nowadays you're definitely not alone if you live here ;) UnionCity experiences mild winters averaging around 15 degrees F (-6 degrees C); however extreme cold snaps do occur occasionally reaching below 0 degrees F (-17 degrees Celsius)during winter months ! Despite these challenges locals continue working hard everyday despite difficult conditions inside & outside their homes!! Due credit card companies charging skyrocketing rates during tough economic times even businesses are forced TO close sometimes :( although thankfully business isn't always bad news once finances improve)... Although generally very supportive 3rd Ward Councilmember Dawn Zimmer has worked tirelessly alongside Mayor Steve Fulop creating several exciting initiatives including developing brand new parkland adjacent to FDR Boulevard east of Main Street (& providing significant funding for said project thru her upcoming budget submission!), improving our infrastructure quality including installing more efficient heat pumps inside city hall (& plans for additional parks etc.), successfully persuading Shopping centers across Monmouthcounty (&Evesham*) NOT TO SELL THEIR PRODUCTS IN UNION CITY WHEN THE NEW FREEZE TIMES ARRIVE , finally cosponsoring several important bills through my committee chairmanship including increasing access points onto Brownsville Roadbridge leading into Toms River!, helping fund programs aimed at reducing crime within our community THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY WORK AND LET'S MAKE THIS CITY EVEN MORE INTERESTING FOR YEARS TO come =]=;;

On November 15th of that year residents voted to annex yet another town - South Amboy - creating a total population forUnionCity of 51.On October 30th 1855 a store fire destroyed most all but two buildings in Commerce Street between Second and Third Streets leading to what is now known as First Avenue NE. This event helped spur business development in the nascent town which would grow into one of America's largest port towns with over 1 million people employed during World War II
