Tinton Falls is a small town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark– Passaic Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Tinton Falls were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his crew on their "Nuova America" in 1524. He named it Nochesdei after the home of his sponsor Nicholas de Montresor. From this location, the first European map was created in 1540 by Vincenzo Leone as part of his exploration of North America. In 1676, General John Monmouth sailed from London with 4,000 men and British forces under Admiral Samuel Graves to invade New Netherland. On July 8th, they landed at Perth Amboy and began their march northward towards Tinton Falls. However, before they could reach the village, General Monmouth's forces were attacked by local Native Americans led by Chief John Stroudsbury. The English retreated back into camp for the night while Stroudsburywait for reinforcements that never arrived; he then proceeded to massacre all of Monmouth's original force including many women and children who had been taken prisoner. After this debacle, Captain John Stevens built a fortification known today as Stevens' Fort on Mount Carmel which served as an important strategic point during most of Dutch rule over New Netherland because it allowed them to monitor neighboring settlements without having to venture too far inland - something that was particularly helpful given that there was no river or bay nearby capable of providing such an anchorage. In 1702-3 during King George II's War against France (the French and Indian War), Sir William Johnson commanded a squadron consisting of eight ships anchored off Tinton Falls when news reached him that French warships had come upriver and captured several merchant vessels transporting munitions needed for war effort in North America! As word spread about what had occurred close to his shipyards Johnson quickly dispatched five warships equipped with cannonball throwers (or "musquets") armed only with simple bows and arrows to retake those vessels before they got too close! During these engagements Johnson heroismously refused orders not to fire upon any Spanish or French vessels encountered despite knowing full well what would happen; he is ultimately considered one of the most celebrated naval commanders during both wars due in large part to this episode.]] Today’s economy based around tourism has helped lead Tinton Falls into recent resurgence; however much work still needs to be done if this town is goingto continue growing economically for years to come."

Tinton Falls is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Newark-Atlantic City metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Tinton Falls were members of the Lenape people who resided along the Delaware River in what is now Hunterdon and Mercer counties. The Dutch founded a trading post here in 1664 and named it "Tinton". In 1714, Benjamin West purchased land here from Adam Fleming for $1,000. By 1758, Tinton had a public school and courthouse constructed. In 1827, John Stevens built a sawmill on the river near present-day Centerville Road and Cold Spring Lane. As work began on this mill, residents donated 66 acres (24 ha) of land to form what would eventually become Tinton Falls Township. In 1849–50 Isaac Parker established a gristmill on the east side of the river north of present-day Greenville Avenue and south of Bucks Road. This mill became known as Parker's Mill because its founder received help from his brother John Parker in starting it up. In 1865–66 George Washington Carver came to Tinton Falls to teach agriculture there and he founded Carver Hall which still stands today as one of Tinton Falls' primary landmarks. From 1860 through 1964, when it closed due to World War II damage, Parkers Mills operated as an electric Cooperative store until it merged with other Cooperatives in 1964. In 1925 Captured Lake Recreation Area was opened just northeast of town limits under supervision by then Mayor Averell Harriman Jr.. At its peak in 1930 there were 4 motels located within town limits – all but one now gone except for their foundations which can still be seen next to Route 22 across from Sunrise Lutheran Church off Peddle Brook Drive – 8Crystal Beach swimming pools; 9 tennis courts; 12 miles (19 km) worth of hiking trails; 1 beach volleyball court; 1 dog park... admission was free for everyone! In 1970 township offices moved out into new facilities on Court House Square which also served as municipal hall until that building burned down in 2006 - creating significant problems with fire prevention since no emergency services could be called from outside town while buildings remained unoccupied . A referendum passed by voters in 1984 resulted in enactment of township laws providing for consolidation with adjacent townships (the two being combined into River Edge municipality), followed by annexation by Newark after that city's formation less than two years later . On January 1st 1990 all original township officers resigned effective date effective January 2nd 1990 following passage by special meeting thereof authorizing substitution thereof... On February 5th 1990 name change became official becoming "Tinton Falls Borough" The Manhattans: When America's First Steakhouse sprouted up at 425 Main Street among those hardworking men associated with Long Branch Railroad Depot 35 years ago—and Chef Bob Nussmeier led them cookin’ hot dogs right out front while they worked overnight shifts—he simply couldn't resist including some tinered beef patties inside his rustic wooden shack... Today’s restaurant takes its name—believed originally derived from “tin shop”—from one such early outpost where folks gathered around an open fire during winter months back when ice skated easily over Crazy Horse Run below ...Today more than 100 years later you can enjoy 30 items on tap plus fresh vegetables daily straight out your door without ever having to leave your comfortable home or go outside! In 1784, the first successful attempt to cross the Delaware River was made by a group of colonists led by Colonel John Denny. The settlers built a ferryboat and crossed in about 20 minutes. The Tinton Falls Bridge was constructed in 1892 and is still in use today. It was an important link between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
