Tenafly is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 20,614 at the 2010 census. Tenafly is one of the most working-class towns in America and has seen a resurgence in its economy since the onset of the Great Recession. The town's nickname "The promised land" comes from its location just off I-287, providing easy access to centers of commerce and jobs. The township was formed on April 14, 1821 from portions of Scotch Plains Township and Richfield Township. Tenafly is located on Route 19 north of Hackensack and east of Paterson. Tenafly began as an agricultural community with sawmills and flour mills operating until World War II when large manufacturing complexes took hold. Many factories closed after the war, but new businesses such as Home Depot and PNC replaced them inTenafly's economy over time. A resurgence started in 2006 when then- Mayor John Russo announced that Tenafly would become a "city". After several years of planning by Russo, voters passed a referendum approved by referendum on November 3rd 2009 which made Tenafly an official city with powers including zoning ordinances, city funds for infrastructure projects (including water main replacement and street repairs), taxation authority within city limits (and exclusive right to use public services), mayoral term limits, charter amendment giving more power to City Councilmember/council members than currently granted to Mayor/Councilmembers alone and creation of a police department - all while still remaining part of the Township government - making it one of only two municipalities in Hunterdon County without one. As part of this growth process, many small businesses were displaced or liquidated during the recession; however those that have reopened have done so rapidly due to low rent rates available in surrounding townships - something that has helped keep Tenafyl's economy afloat even during difficult times like the Great Recession! In addition to its vibrant downtown area where restaurants such as Freddy's Pizza offer great food at reasonable prices along with live music each night thanks to his popular band called "The Bluegrass Boys", Tenafyl also features newer development such as apartments complex known as Lighthouse Pointe which overlooks Monmouth Bay; Splash House which provides swimming pools for children ages 10 – 12 year olds; Assemblage Yards Job Center featuring Employment Counseling services for workers who have lost their job or are searching for new employment; Beaux Arts development known locally simply as "Beach"; Park Place Mall which offers local stores various items including clothing, home goods etc.; service station anchor store across from beach club house - complete with fuel pumps inside & outside; new health care center set up next door allowing people living near by convenient access to quality healthcare without traveling out any further In recent years there has been discussion about whether or not tenafLY should be allowed into the newly created Middletown Township because its demographics do not align closely with those being established there such as Haddon Heights or East Brunswick - both having much larger populations! However residents seem supportive of their municipality nonetheless!

Tenafly, New Jersey is a small town located in Sussex County, New Jersey. The population was 2,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Trenton-Ewing, NJ metropolitan area. Tenafly has been a community since 1795 and was originally called "The Allen's Mills." The first settler in what is now Tenafly was Nicholas Allen, who arrived in 1795. There have been many settlers to Tenafly over the years – some of which are listed below. In 1814, Daniel Webster built a small cabin on land that he purchased from John Killian for $5 per acre. In 1825, Samuel Morse established his telegraph line through Tenafly and erected his Telegraph Station there in 1826. In 1848, John Dolan founded the flour mill at 10 Downing Street in Tenafly with capital investment of $10,000 from his brother-in-law Charles Fenton. The flour mill became one of the largest flour mills in America and remain active to this day producing flour for local families as well as exporting it around the world. In 1870, Asahel Day built a house on Moorfield Road which still stands today (it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978). On November 16th 1906 tenacious builders Elisha Wylefson & Sons began construction on what would become known as "The Gilded Age" housing development known as Park Row; their completion marked an eventful year for Five Points because they were also responsible for developing much of Newark's downtown area including Broad and Market Streets - becoming one of its most visible commercial districts during this time period Tenafly residents voted unanimously to annex Township of Wilson Heights on February 22nd 1916 after Borough President James Purdy announced plans to merge township functions into Wilson Heights government under one roof - giving all citizens withinWilson Heights authority to vote on issues affecting their township rather than just having it delegated back and forth between two separate governing bodies . This action represented an important change for Tenafly because previous township decisions had only been made by borough officials with no input from locals . After annexing Wilson Heights c1816-1920 residents continued to use Township Meeting Rooms until 1922 when they moved into new buildings located at 9 South Main Street (now home to Stroudsburg University) following approval by voters in 1920 referendum On May 21st 1932 during World War II almost sixty homes were destroyed when Morristown Ammunition Storage Depot blew up due to faulty detonating powder charges inside resulting in more than fifty injuries ; all but six homes were rebuilt using proceeds from sales lottery tickets sold throughout town
Tenafly was founded on the banks of the Passaic River in 1795 by Nicholas Tenafly and his brothers. The town grew rapidly and, by 1824, it had a population of over 1,500. In 1856, Tenafly became the county seat of Monmouth County. By 1920, Tenafly's population had grown to 10,000 and it annexed nearby Hackensack in 1922. In 1959, Tenafly was destroyed in a fire that destroyed all but a few buildings on Main Street.
