Tenafly, New Jersey is a town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Tenafly is located on the eastern bank of the Raritan River and straddles the border of Middlesex and Monmouth counties. It was founded by English settlers in 1777. Tenafly was incorporated as a municipality on March 3, 1858. The name "Tenafly" comes from Dutch words meaning "a place where trees grow". The original settlers were farmers who arrived from Holland in search of fresh water for their cattle and farming equipment. In 1778, they erected a small log cabin on what is now State Road 9 near present-day Tenafly High School. In 1807, Tenafly became part of Middlesex County when it was formed from portions of Monmouth and Sussex counties. On February 15, 1858, it became a municipality with its own government and first elected officials were Township Mayor John A Smith (18th century), Justice James W Hynes (19th century), Treasurer John S Burnett (20th century) and Clerk Joseph Fournier (21st century). At that time there were just 4 residents in Tenafly – 2 men and 2 women – but because it had its own government it began to develop into an agricultural community with farmland stretching along both sides of the river. One of the earliest businesses in town was J & P Tucker's Store which opened in 1865 at what is now corner Main Street and Broadway Avenue. The store closed down during World War II but reopened in 1951 as Cooks Hardware Company before being sold to Quaker Oats Company in 1978 which closed down again after several years. Today there are only a few remaining buildings from those early days including J & P Tucker's Store which still stands atBroadway Ave., Post Office Building #2 which still serves as Town Hall today and Court House Building which served as Municipal Headquarters until recently

Checkered Sight A checkered sighting system uses patterns (or lines) etched into the metal surrounding the Dot Sight or Blade Sight itself so that when you position yourself behind or above it, certain parts of those patterns will be visible while other parts will be hidden. This allows you more precision in hitting your targets since there's always something available blocking view along those lines!

Tenafly is located on the north side of the township and east of Mount Olivet Cemetery. It is one of two townships in Hunterdon County and its name comes from Dutch for "Island" or "Isle". The first Europeans to encounter what is now Tenafly were Frenchmen who landed there in 1624 on the island that later became known as Monmouth Island. The area was part of Dutch East India Company territory at the time. British forces captured Monmouth Island after a three-day battle on September 13, 1755, which ended with heavy losses for both sides. British General James Wolfe took possession of Tenafly and renamed it Garden Township because he intended to keep Dutch settlers out. However, many Dutch immigrants moved into Garden Township before Wolfe's troops left in 1758 and founded the village of Asbury Park (now called Woodbridge). In 1834 Tenafly had 1,600 residents; by 1860 it had only 434 residents remaining when the township was closed down due to lack of support from New Jersey Gov.-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt during his first term as president because Of its low population size relative to other municipalities within his district. In 1931 tenement buildings were constructed along Third Street with plans to create an affluent community modeled after Paramus NJ In 1937 an act passed by then Governor thereof required all new townships be fashioned after Paramus since that municipality had experienced rapid growth following prohibition repeal in 1935 After World War II most industrial activity ceased in All but one hundred homes built between 1925-1945 were razed following the war when steel production resumed In 1953 township office building burned down leaving Oneonta as the first municipality within New Jersey to have a municipally run library since Boroughs began being formed 2 years earlier

Despite this decline, however, Tenafley remains an important community within New Jersey because of its rich history and unique culture.

Tenafly was founded in 1798 by Nicholas Tenafly and his wife, Anne. The town was named for a small creek that ran through it. In 1825, Tenafly became the county seat of Monmouth County. On July 1, 1850, Tenafly became a part of the newly formed Union County. On October 25, 1867, Union County was merged into Middlesex County.
