The Tenafly Gun Lights were a set of electric lights used in the town of Tenafly, New Jersey from 1901 to 1951. The gun lights were installed on poles around the town and activated by someone pulling a switch.
Tenafly, New Jersey is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,816 at the 2010 census. Tenafly is located on the north shore of Long Island Sound and is bordered by Sayreville to the north, Beachwood to the east, Englewood Cliffs to the south and Plainfield to the west. The first inhabitants of what is now Tenafly were Monmouth natives who arrived there during English exploration in 1609. They were followed by Swedes and Dutch settlers who also began arriving in significant numbers between 1624 and 1638. At that time, Tenafly was part of West Morristown Township. The first European-owned land in what is now Tenafly was bought from Indian traders by Nicholas Rowe in 1714. Rowe built a small farm on what is now Main Street and named it Rowley after himself. In 1792, John Day founded Day's Mills on present-day East Main Street which served as an important center for cotton production until 1827 when Farmingdale became more major center for industry in Bergen County. In 1847, William Mather opened a gristmill on Broadwalk which helped increase settlement around this area and led to its name change from Rowley Mill to Tenafly Grist Mill Company (later renamed Mather & Sons). By 1860, tenement housing had become increasingly popular in Bergen County because of its affordability due to its close proximity to schools and other amenities - including one mile (1 kilometer) of beachfront property rented free by residents for swimming or sunbathing. In 1863–64 local businesses amalgamated into a new company called Ritchie Bros., Incorporated when seven firms united under one roof to form Marmora Manufacturing Company Limited with plants at Hackensack Avenue and Ridge Road near wherepresent-day Northsea Boulevard meets Southsea Drive. The growth of manufacturing throughout much of post-World War II America caused demand for steel products resulting in increased employment opportunities at Marmora Manufacturing Company Limited along with several other companies within town limits over ensuing years culminating with establishment of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Ltd.-today’s HPE -in 1974 as part of Local Unit #1 (LU 1), one out of eight economic units created statewide pursuant to NJ Legislature’s enactment entitled “Jobs For All NJans” package legislation (Parsons v Public Utilities Commission [1984] 3 NJ2d 675; see also: Parscale v Borough Of Rahway [1989] 2 PML 568). With rapid technological progress following World War II Michigan Bell Telephone Co.--now Verizon--established three major telephone facilities hereabouts: One near current day Ridge Road intersection; another just south/west of Broadwalk intersection off Garden State Parkway; third southwest corner Old Bridge Rd./Route 9 exit from I-95 just east/ southeast of present day Park Avenue junction A primary agricultural concern through most portions hereinof has been cattle ranching dating back well before railroads arrived--main Streets running perpendicular or nearly so thereto being named after then leading cowboys/ranchers etc.--with very limited human development taking place until about 1910 when automobiles became available primarily for commuting purposes although some stores still remain open today selling general merchandise ashore especially during tourist season ?residential areas having generally grown more suburban type contemporary styling incorporating various forms both public works programs such as storm water management systems(see: Englewood Cliffs); maintaining green spaces consisting mostly parkland except towards eastern edge borderingSayreville neighborhood; large shopping malls anchored by Macy's department store situated nearest original Mt Vernon pier landing point opposite Sayreville waterfront)? industrial landscape becoming increasingly composed largely either predominately high rise buildings used primarily for office space/facilities related functions such as health insurance companies etc.; light industrial operations comprising restaurants/bars serving up food late into night catering mainlyto commuters traveling via I- 95 corridor connecting Newark Liberty International Airport&Queensbridge Terminal station; processing centers associated primarily with pharmaceuticals manufacture typically occupying former factories adjacent Route 9 mainline crossingRahway River)--most recently abandoned township line boundaries gradually extending seaward past present day Park Avenue junction? residential areas continuing their recent postwar suburban style characterized by increased concentrations away from downtown core offering excellent public transportation access including MARCNJ bus lines service reaching all parts within minutes comparativelly bypassing downtown core traffic congestion levels typical during weekday morning rush hours notwithstanding occasional eveningrush periods particularlyduring summer months? lands rapidly diminishing toward southeastern limit overlooking ocean
There is a long and varied history of firearms with light sources attached to them. The first such firearm was the crossbow, which used an early form of photography to take pictures of arrows being fired. The first use of a light source in firearms was with the muzzleloader, which used a small aperture on the back end of a rifle to let natural light into the weapon and allow it to fire using traditional methods (ie., hand loading). The development of shotguns and handguns led to the attachment of lights, cameras, and other devices to these firearms in order for them to be used in night hunting or target shooting. In 1903, George Armstrong Custer shot an elephant with his carbine while wearing a “night stick” attached directly to his belt that allowed him see through the darkness while hunting elephants. This type of device is still in use today as part of sniper training exercises

Tenafly is a small town located in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,022 at the 2010 census. Tenafly is known for its lakes and woods, as well as its role in American history. The town was first established in 1795 by Nicholas Tenafly and his family of eight children. The Tenaflys were farmers who grew corn, wheat and beans on their farms near the current day intersection of Route 924 and Old Mill Road. In 1818, Nicholas' son John founded a mill here which became one of the most important businesses in Tenafly during its early years. In 1864, George Washington Carver moved to Tenafly after working his way up through the ranks at a nearby farmstead where he owned three acres (1 km²). At age 25 Carver started to work on a new farming venture that would have major impact on America - he began to cultivate cotton crops which would become the foundation for American industry. With this success came increased competition from Holland and other countries interested in becoming involved in American cotton production. In 1865, George Washington Carver married Nancy Ladd of Newark; they would have five children together before she died in 1892. After her death, he continued farming with two young boys until 1903 when he sold all his land and relocated to Tuskegee State University near Atlanta Georgia due to racial tensions then existing between black Americans and white Europeans living within the United States over slavery issues specific to African Americans (see: Tuskegee Airmen). It wasn't until 1901 that George Washington Carver returned home again after traveling abroad for many years studying crop science at Tuskegee Agricultural Experiment Station under Professor Samuel Morse Smith (USAA) that he finally felt able to bring back some taste back into his life which had been lost while away! After several years living back home with his wife's family members before moving into an old boarding house on Main Street where they lived until their deaths in 1942/1943 it was finally purchased by Mr & Mrs JF Heywood who operated it as a motel from 1951-1978 before it was bought by developer Edward Slingerland Jr., father of Edward Slingerland Sr., who operates it now as an apartment complex called "Tenafly Towers." While many aspects about local culture remain unchanged today such as celebrations like "Proud To Be Tenafly" weeklong festival taking place each year throughout July celebrating various aspects of local culture including arts & crafts based around traditional ten AFLY Folk Music Festival may be unique or even unprecedented among similar festivals held throughout continental United States; nonetheless much has changed since those days including residential development adjacent to Lake Winnipesaukee built beginning around 1960s followed by retail redevelopment surrounding lake beginning around 1990s spurring growth along North-South axis ultimately resulting in more density along arterial streets especially downtown area becoming increasingly commercialized primarily concentrated along main artery thru 5th Ave., Centerville Rd./Route 924 corridor which paralleles golf course currently serving primarily professional Athletes practicing there etc.; overall result providing reasons why name 'TenAFLY' retains strong cultural significance long after majority of residents have left town; see also: History lesson: 10AFLY folk music festival
