The Tenafly Rifle Club was founded in 1903. The rifle club met at the home of Mrs. George W. Osborn and had a total membership of twenty-six, plus six honorary members. The first rifle competition was held in October 1903 with a single goal: to improve accuracy and shooting skills. In 1911, the Tenafly Rifle Club moved to its current location on Main Street in Tenafly. The club operated out of the house until it burned down in 1951, when it relocated again to its present location on Sixty-fourth Street in East Brunswick Township. In 1916, the Tenafly Rifle Club changed its name to “Tenafly Pistol Club” due to prohibition laws which banned handguns in New Jersey at that time. In 1947, the Tenafly Pistol Club became “Tenafly Rifle andShotgun Association” after merging with another rifle club from eastern New Jersey named “Atlantic City Rifle and Shotgun Association”
Tenafly is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,026 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Trenton-Ewing, NJ metropolitan area. Tenafly is located on the eastern edge of Mercer Township and within Woodbridge Township. The township was established in 1847 and named for George Washington Tenafly, an American Revolutionary War soldier who served as a justice of the peace in Mercer County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of ; of it (or 99% thereof) is land and 1% (or 0.1%) is water. The remaining .9% includes a portion of Old Bridge Township which was annexed by Tenafly in 1978. The Princeton–Newark Expressway passes through Tenafly andconnects with Interstate 95 near Newark Liberty International Airport to the south and I-77 to the north. As of the 2000 census there were 2,023 people living here; however this figure may have increased since then because no recent censuses have been taken place within Tenafly proper boundaries

Tenafly was a small town situated in the township of Morris, in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Tenafly ZIP Codes include 07887 and 07927. The last person to be elected Mayor were incumbent Edward Ahern (1854-1857) and future Governor James Kapp (1859-1861). The post office at Tenafly began service on November 15th, 1836 under the name "Morris". It continued serving until 1893 when it changed its name to "Tenafly". From 1909 until 1963 there was also an electric power plant located in town which provided power for all businesses within walking distance including schools and hospitals; however after that plant went out of business most businesses closed down as energy became more expensive than purchasing electricity from centralized sources like NJ Power Generation Company or Municipal Electricity Authority.
