The history of gun magazines in Summit, New Jersey goes back to the early 1800s. Gunsmiths and armorers would supply their customers with new firearms, ammunition, and tools at intervals. The first gun magazine was established in 1821 by Nicholas Colt. At that time, it was called the "Gunsmith's Journal." In 1851, the first issue of Palmer's Rifle News was published in Summit. That publication became a mainstay of the shooting community and helped to popularize rifle shoots throughout the area. In 1872, an armory and magazine were built on Main Street in Summit by Captain John Crouse. It was one of the largest armories in New Jersey and served as a base for many local rifle clubs. The clubroom four stories high housed a variety of rifles including artillery pieces, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, rifles and muskets. There were also several storerooms on-site for storing equipment and supplies. During World War II (1939-1945), gun magazines played an important role in supplying troops with military firearms and ammunition. They frequently held shootouts between groups from different units to test out new weapons or ammo before combat began. These events are often memorialized through annual firearm competitions organized by various clubs within Summit County as well as across New Jersey each year during National Rifle Association Weekend festivities

Summit is a town in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,592 at the 2010 census. Summit is located on the Hackensack River and shares borders with Elizabeth Township to the north, Ridgewood Township to the east, Ocean View Township to the south and Westwood Borough to the west. The name "Summit" meaning "highest point" in English was first applied by early settlers to what is now Summit Township in 1795. The township was created on March 15th, 1837 from portions of Middlesex and Uniontown townships. The original settlers were Quakers who had arrived fromPhiladelphia in 1684. They named their settlement after Mount Washington (now George Washington National Monument) outside of Philadelphia which they thought would be higher than any other peak in this area. In 1868, when Ridgefield was granted township status and included much of present-day Summit as well as parts of Elizabeth and Ridgewood townships, Ridgefield also designated part of its northern border as Summit's western boundary - thus fulfilling Quaker tradition that activities should take place near highest peaks. In 1882, when Kinderhook Township was established adjacent to Ridgefield within present-day Summit Township boundaries, Kinderhook renamed its portion of Ridgefield as "Kinderhook Heights". This naming convention continued until 1955 when all municipalities within Bergen County were given individual names without regard to their geographical boundaries. On October 14th, 1886 two new towns were formed within present-day Summit: Pleasantville and Park Slope – both located along Upper Hackensack River valley just upstream from where it joins the river at Passaic Avenue near Saddle Brook village line. These villages soon became neighborhoods associated with nearby cities such as Jersey City or Newark; however Pleasantville remains an independent municipality today while Park Slope has become part of Bloomfield Hills borough since 2000). Accordingly, there are now three municipalities located entirely within one town: (1) Pleasantville proper; (2) Park Slope; (3) Ridgewood Township; while (4) ElizabethTownship includes most of what once constituted Mount Washington reservation including much of modern day summit area between Highland Avenue and Saddle Brook Avenue eastward intoElizabethTownship., especially around Highland/Saddlebrook junction .

On July 12, 1775, a group of patriots from Summit, New Jersey met at the home of Dr. Nathan Hale to agree upon a plan for fighting the British. The men elected George Washington as their leader and decided to form an encampment on Mount Princeton to await orders from the Continental Congress. The Battle of Princeton was fought on July 3, 1777, in what is now known as the Battle of Princeton Ridge. After weeks of hard fighting, the Patriot forces emerged victorious and drove back the British army under General Howe. The event helped solidify American support for the war and demonstrated that New Jersey could play an important role in its success. In 1814, when New Jersey became a state, Summit was one of 24 towns in New Jersey that joined Confederation with other states represented by President James K. Polk in order to form what would become America’s new nation-state. The town continued to play a significant role in American life until its demise in 1949 when it merged with nearby Hopewell Township into Rahway Township. Today, Summit remains an important community located adjacent to Lake Monmouth within Middlesex County.
On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress declared independence from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was read by John Adams, who was then the president of the United States. On October 16, 1777, General George Washington led an army to attack London. After weeks of fighting and many casualties, the British were forced to surrender on November 15. America gained independence from Great Britain and became a republic.
