American ammunition manufacturer and distributor Summit Ammunition Company was founded in 1892. The company became large enough to incorporate in 1923, and produced a wide variety of ammunition including rifle, shotgun, pistol, and revolver calibers. In the 1970s, Summit began producing centerfire ammo for self-loading rifles under the name "Summit Arms." In 1984, Summit merged with American Outdoor Brands Corporation to form American Outdoor Brands Corporation (AOBC) patriarch Barry Garland's new investment vehicle. Under AOBC ownership, Summit Ammo production continued until 2000 when it was sold to Remington Arms Company.
Summit is a city in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 24,569 at the 2010 census. Summit is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the southern edge of Morristown and is bordered by Edison to the east and Bloomfield Township to the west. The first Europeans to visit what is now Summit were Dutch traders in 1624 who named it "Truidenberg" after a hill on their trip from Holland. In 1714, Samuel Johnston charted what is now Summit as part of his surveys for a road from Trenton through Morris County to Camden; he called it "Mount Pleasant". The first settler in what would become Summit was Daniel Boone in 1775. He built a cabin on an bluff overlooking the Susquehanna River and later developed land around it for farming and development into what are now Summit Township, Edison Township, and Bloomfield Township. In 1812 Robert Stephenson founded Rockaway Ferry Company which transported passengers across the river between Newark Liberty International Airport and Elizabethtown near Mount Laurel. This company became known as Atlantic Expressway (I-95) when it was built through central New Jersey in the early 1960s connecting I-95 with Interstate 95 south of Philadelphia. Summit's rich agricultural history can be seen today in its many farms such as Swen Hensley Farms that produce eggs, pork products including ham, bacon, sausage and pepperoni; Garden State Agricultural Research Center(GASRC), one of two agribusinesses operating within Rutgers University's Hunterdon Institute School of Business; Raritan Valley Creamery which makes sourdough breadsand store-bought ice cream; Bally’s Irish Pub & Grille - also one of two restaurants within Rutgers' Magee College Arts & Sciences Campus - has been open since 1958 serving traditional Irish food such as shepherd’s pie, potato pancakes with gravy or beef stew with boiled potatoes; KFC - another institution within Rutgers' Magee College Arts & Sciences Campus - has been open since 1954 serving Kentucky Fried Chicken(); Asbury Park Press Mall located just north of downtown features over 20 shops/stores selling items related to local businesses including arts& crafts/jewelry/pottery/furniture etc.;and numerous small businesses located throughout downtown making Summit onestop shopping center not only for residents but visitors too! summitnj
An ammunition history can be traced back to the beginning of mankind. Ammunition has been used for war since before recorded history. Ammunition is essential in warfare because it allows armies and shooters to shoot accurately at targets over long distances. The first ammunition was created by a man named Adam Smith in 1795. Smith developed a way to create projectiles that were small enough to be fired from firearms but large enough to inflict damage on enemy troops. In 1857, General John Jacob Astor commissioned George Armstrong Custer, an American general, to lead an expedition into Indian Territory to capture scalps and guns from the Sioux and Cheyenne tribesman. On July 2, 1876, Custer's force was ambushed by Indians near the Little Bighorn River near present-day Rosewood, Wyoming. As his forces fought their way through the night, some of Custer's officers discovered that they were short on rounds for their rifles. To make up for this lack of ammo, Custer ordered his men to fire on the surrounding hills with cannonball practice instead of actual rounds. This innovation led to what is now known as "Custer's balls". The following year, George Armstrong Shaw submitted a report on muzzleloading artillery pieces called "The Practice of Gunnery" which helped promote accurate shooting over hand-held weapons in battle scenarios. In 1878–79, Captain John Aiken sailed aboard HMS Sandwich during her maiden voyage as part of British Antarctic Expedition VII (1878–79). While onboard he noticed that many ships using muzzleloaders had trouble hitting targets ashore due to recoil problems caused by the round's size and velocity when firing from close quarters

Summit was a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. It was formed on July 1, 1834, from the merger of two other towns: Summit Township and West Side (now part of Clifton). The population in 2010 was 14,848. The first Europeans to settle in what is now Summit were Dutch settlers who founded a trading post there in 1668. In 1780, the British established an airfield at Summit which served as a staging ground for military campaigns against the French and their Indian allies. In 1814, it became part of the newly created Bergen County and remained so until its consolidation with other municipalities on April 3, 1911. During World War II, many companies located in Summit made significant contributions to our country by manufacturing munitions or providing jobs for American workers. Among these are Bethlehem Steel Company (now ArcelorMittal) and DuPont's Johnstown Plant. The region that comprises today's Summit was heavily forested during much of this time; however more recent deforestation has occurred adjacent to populated areas making it difficult to identify certain boundaries between townlands/villages within Summit Township and those withinclosing communities such as Clifton Township. As a result of this lack of definitive history available can research increasingly difficult pinpoint dates or specific landmarks associated with particular events or residents within Summits borders
On November 5, 1784, the first public meeting of the United States took place in what is now Summit, New Jersey. The purpose of this meeting was to create a new government for the land that would become the United States.
