Gun grips have been around for centuries and their origins are still being studied today. Different countries had different grip styles when they first began using firearms, and there were also many variations of each country’s grip style. As time passed, some countries started to update their grip styles while others stayed the same. Today, there are many different types of gun grips on the market and it can be hard to determine which one is best for you. One of the earliest gun grips was the Ottoman-era Turkish Hasanbey bone handle grip (Figure 1). The Hasanbey handle was used in handguns from the 15th century until 1795. The Hasanbey grip was designed to provide a comfortable fit for a user’s hand and help keep the firearm in position during shooting. The Croatian Pahor stick (Figure 2) is another early gun handle style. This type of handle was used starting in the 16th century and continued into the 19th century. The Pahor stick was designed to provide a more secure hold onto a firearm when firing than other types of guns handles. It also allowed users to use multiple fingers while holding onto the weapon. Another early example of a pistol grip design was found in Hungary (Figure 3). This type of pistol grip became popular after Transylvania switched from using an animal pawhandle to this design in 1482 AD (Petersen 1911). Hungarian pistols typically featured this type of pistol grip until 1848 AD when Austria introduced its own version (Klein 1868). From then on, Austrian pistols generally used Hungarian-style pistol grips (.Figures 4 & 5)). European handgun handles evolved over time as different regions adopted new firearms designs or changed their methods of manufacturing handguns. South River is a small town in New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,713 at the 2010 census. It is part of Middlesex County and is located south of Newark on the Hackensack River. The community was founded in 1788 by John Woolridge as a ferry landing on the Hackensack River between Perth Amboy and South Orange. Woolridge named it for his father-in-law, Sir George Carteret, 6th Baronet (1684–1737). South River grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location along the river and its access to markets in Newark and Paterson. By 1879, it had become an incorporated village. The village declined during the 20th century, but has regained some of its former prosperity since 2000 when it became one of 17 communities statewide awarded $10 million in federal stimulus money for development projects within 1 mile of commercial areas. South River's economy depends heavily on agriculture; many residents are also employed in nearby towns such as Newark or Paterson. In 2007, SouthRiver announced that it would be closing its tiny high school after more than 50 years of operation. However, community members have formed a group to continue fundraising so that the school can be reopened with new construction features and improved amenities over time

South River, New Jersey is a small town located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The community was founded in 1814 by the purchase of land from the Delaware and Monmouth Canal Company. South River became an incorporated village in 1938. It consists of a census-designated place (CDP) and nine unincorporated communities. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP had a population of 922 people. The name of South River comes from two forks of the Susquehanna River: the north fork which flows into Rutgers University's campus; and the south fork which flows into Weehawken Creek. The river was named for Sir John Moore who donated land to establish what is now Rutgers University in 1765 as part of his donation to America. SouthRiver has been home to several colleges including Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, Penn State Behrend College, Saint Joseph's College and Monmouth County Community College. In 1938 SouthRiver became an incorporated village when it amalgamated with neighboring West Milford Township and East Milford Township.
The South River was a natural watercourse that flowed through the town of Princeton, New Jersey. It was also known as the Great South River or the Newark and Passaic Rivers. The river was first mentioned in 1040 AD when it was called the palisades of Caton. In 1664, the Dutch surveyor Hendrick Rutgers named it after his father-in-law, Nicholas Southwick. The river attained its present name in 1795 when Captain James Cook sailed along it during his exploration of Australia.
