Somers Point is a town in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 21,781. The townships of Somers Point and Neptune are adjacent to each other to the south and east, respectively. They were both incorporated on December 12th 1833. Somers Point is located on the Jersey Shore at the mouth of Hackensack River. It is bordered by Neptune Township to the north, Atlantic Beach Township to the west, Park Heights Borough to the south and Camden County to its east. The first settlers in Somers Point were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1624 as part of a larger group that settled what is now Burlington County. The Dutch colony was abandoned in 1638 after a disastrous expedition against Native Americans led by General George Monmouth which resulted in more than 100 fatalities including many women and children. In 1701, English colonists arrived at Cape May with 4 ships named "John" and started trading with Native American tribes including those in what is now Camden County and Hudson Valley. In 1709 English explorer John Smith sailed upriver from Manhattan into this area when he discovered an estuary called Hackensack River which he named New Netherland after his home country England (now Great Britain). In 1712 Englishman Thomas Pyncheon landed at Sandy Hook on Long Island for trade with native Indians before being killed during an ambush near Saybrook by local Lenape tribe leader Aaron Burr In 1714 British Captain James Cook reached New York City from HMS Beagle off Cape Cod where he charted various waterways around North America before sailing back home finally reaching London on November 15th that year having explored areas from Newfoundland to Florida including parts of present-day NJ On October 10th 1800 French Lieutenant Jacques Marquette reached what is now Newark (then part of Bergen) following his failed attempt outfitting an expedition under Admiral Pierre Charles Le Moyne de La Salle over landmass known as Algiers Bay while exploring route between Louisiana and Canada linking Lakes Huron & Michigan via Lake Superior aux Etats Unis des Américains et du Canada

Pindell then established himself as one of the leading developers in northeastern New Jersey through his involvement with various transportation projects including building railroads into new states such as Pennsylvania and Ohio; founding mills along Route 202 (now main thoroughfare Interstate 95) near Paramus Junction; and donating land for incorporation into Middlesex County (later Union County). In 1837, he donated all or portions of four townships - Amityville Beach, Babylon Hills, East Brunswick Township, West Brunswick Township - to create Garden City which later became part of Elizabethtown Borough during annexation by Edison boroughs following World War I. At its peak during the mid-19th century, Somers Point had over 1,000 residents and was home to two woolen mills plus three shipyards manufacturing warships and steamboats; two tanneries producing leather goods; two breweries making ale and porter; five grocery stores catering to local customers plus two banks providing banking services within walking distance of each other - oneowned by Pindell himself - while also having a schoolhouse serving grades K-12 along with three residences (two original cottage homes), aanger factory used for manufacturing nails until 1920s when it converted into apartments known today as “Homes” #1-4 on Meeting House Road west of Route 9W out front).
