By 1795, West Shore Village had grown sufficiently that Captain John Smith erected a smalllog cabin there for himself on Sandy Hook Creek near present-day Hyannis Port in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. In 1814, during the War for Independence against Great Britain, General Washington ordered all British forces within Utopia Parish to leave or be interned without pay until such time as they surrendered unconditionally. This order applied also to West Shore Village which remained loyal to America throughout the war despite its distance from Boston proper (the capital). When English soldiers pulled down the white log fence surrounding WSHV's hilltop cabin in 1815 they discovered furniture and tools belonging to local farmers stored inside including plows, hoes and other farm equipment dating back centuries! Aftermath of war saw many vacant lots fill up with troops barracks but few people moved into WSHV due lack of available housing nearby; however one man did purchase property adjacent to today's harbor just beyond where Rutgers University stands today - William Tilden Jr., future 27th President of America! During the battle, Woolridge's forces suffered heavy losses but managed to push back France's advance and keep their position until reinforcements could arrive from England. In 1847, John Fenton purchased much of what is now known as north-central Somerset County from Samuel Parsons for $2,000 cash plus 10 acres (40 hectares) of land fronting the river which he donated to become Moorpark Village development parklands adjacent to present day Middlebury College campus. This donation provides part of what makes Moorpark Village unique - it contains no high-rise buildings or other commercial developments typical of most American villages built near waterways like those found in Somerset County during this time period; instead, homes are built along gently sloping streets on small lots measuring only about .50 acre (1 hectare). "Fenton’s gift...marked not only an important change for southwestern New Jersey but also provided significant financial assistance for colleges throughout northwestern New Jersey." Another significant event that took place at this time was Drs.-Edmund Sanger’s construction of Stonington General Hospital which would serve as both medical care for local residents and hospital capacity for patients traveling downriver via boat or stagecoach coming upriver from Pennsylvanian towns like Trenton and Camden while still providing essential services such as obstetrics/gynecology care in addition to basic needs such as wounded veterans being transported back across state lines directly to Stonington General Hospital without having first undergone surgery at one of Pennsylvania’s more prestigious hospitals like Philadelphia’s think Phila Hospital where fees were often prohibitively expensive even for military personnel serving overseas under very tight budgets? This innovative approach would eventually lead to similar hospitals being constructed all over America including some now located inside urban areas! Somers Point was a seaside town on the Atlantic coast of New Jersey, located on the southwestern tip of Long Island. It had a population of about 1,500 people in 1800 and grew to 5,000 by 1920. Somers Point was originally settled by Dutch colonists in 1664 as part of what is now known as North Brunswick Township. The town was founded by Nicholas Carpentier and his family in 1793. After Morrisania (later West Orange) became a separate township in 1809, Somers Point joined Morrisania. In 1827, the town voted to become an incorporated village and received its charter from Jersey City Mayor James Parnell. By 1830, the population had reached 3,000 residents. The harbor at Somers Point formed the nucleus around which the community developed and served as both a commercial center for local businesses and an important base for military operations during World War II. In 1950, when New York City annexed parts of Long Island beyond Queensboro Bridge into its city limits, Somers Point became one of several towns on Long Island that were lost to new development despite being adjacent to larger cities such as New York City or Brooklyn. Despite this loss, Somers Point has continued to experience significant growth over time; its current population is over 10,000 people
