Gun Parts History in Somers Point, New Jersey began with the creation of a firearms store in 1847. The store was located on Market Street and became known as Donelson’s Gun Store. In 1865, Donelson sold his business to W.H.Donelson and Sons who continued to operate it until 1971. In 1898, A&P Tobacco Company opened up shop on Broadway Avenue in Somers Point and started selling guns. From there, the business grew and by 1907, it had become the largest gun store in New Jersey. In 1916, the company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company which lasted until 1979 when it merged with Remington Arms Corporation (RA). The merger led to job losses for many people in Somers Point because RA manufactured rifles for both Winchester and Remington companies. However, due to this merger there were some benefits for both businesses as RA was given exclusive rights to sell rifles made by Winchester while Remington received rights to sell pistols and shotguns made by Donelson’s Gun Store. This arrangement continued until 1978 when both companies lost their exclusivity agreement following a suit filed by R&R Firearms Corporation (later Bethlehem Steel) alleging that RA was abusing its monopoly position within the firearms industry

Somers Point is a town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,971 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Camden-Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers at Somers Point were Nicholas Sparks and his family who arrived in 1764 from Rhode Island. They built a small white frame house on what is now called Sparks Street. In 1824 Nicholas Sparks married Lucy Goodrich and they moved to their present home on Park Avenue in 1825. They had four children: James (1825-1912), John (1827-1900), Anna (1829-1911) and Nancy (1831-1920). In 1860s two brothers, Captain William Somers and Commodore Augustus Somers organized an association for the Promotion of Commerce within the limits of this county with the object of promoting the interests of saltpeter production in this vicinity. In 1865 when Commodore Somers died suddenly without any children to succeed him he bequeathed his estate to his brother William which included Kershaws Township which became Somers Point after Commodore's death. In 1870 Captain John Aiken bought from Captain William Somers' widow some land comprising today's Newtonia Township (northwest corner of Kearny Boulevard and Park Avenue). He subdivided it into lots and started building houses there around 1872; one hundred years ago today many residents still live in those old homes on Park Avenue NW close to where they grew up watching boats entering or leaving New York Harbor from their front porch windows! Aiken named his subdivision "Somers Point" after himself because he thought it would be more conspicuous than just calling it Newtonia Township! There was no townsite name given until 1908 when Ironbound Road was platted through parts of Newtonia Township adjoining Somers Point including present day Southwick Heights as well as other areas now part of Westwood Borough - all while citizens were still using "Newtonia" as their mailing addresses! Houses continued being built throughout prohibition days but by 1924 most had been replaced by apartment buildings; however, few remain standing today except for a few Original Art Deco style dwellings that are open to visitors each summertime during carnival season on Shore Drive NW near Atlantic Terminal Railroad Station - right next door to where America's first container port – Newark Liberty International Airport – used to be located! Today only a few original residences remain which are often occupied by retirees or people working at nearby businesses such as Rutgers University or PNC Bank located across Kearny Boulevard from Shore DriveNW - making it difficult for tourists even though access is free during daylight hours! Finally, most residents have moved away either due to cost of living changes or retirement age etc., leaving behind only a few families who continue living hereabouts year round despite special regulations encouraging otherwise! And that’s how Somerset Point has stayed since 1912 – unchanged by Urban renewal projects, development plans or zoning changes over time...except for occasional visits by researchers looking for remnants of Dutch colonial architecture dating back to 1670AD!!!!!

Somers Point is a town in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,036 at the 2010 census. Somers Point is located on the Delaware River at its confluence with the Raritan River. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Area. The first European settler in what became Somers Point was Nicholas Venable in 1678. He and his family were among the earliest English settlers in New Jersey and were one of two families to whom George Washington granted land near Princeton as part of his estate survey. Nicholas's son John also settled there in 1701 and built a bridge over the Raritan River which he named after himself—the first toll Bridge across the Delaware River. In 1744, Stephen Girard purchased from Nicholas Venable 1,200 acres (500 hectares) of land east of present-day Somers Point for $10 per acre ($ today). This area would become known as Girard's Landing. At this time, it was a small fishing village with only about 20 houses and 2 square miles (4 km²) of land available for farming or development. In 1836, Robert Morris acquired 1 million acres (500 km2) of undeveloped rural land from James Kappes for $5 per acre ($ today). The new township was created from parts of Sussex Township and Monmouth Township when those townships were merged onto Morris' estate during an agricultural consolidation operation that also included Essex County. By 1846, nearly all residents had moved away to larger townships within Middlesex County or out into Pennsylvania where labor was cheaper than here in New Jersey; however, much older homes remain standing vacant at junction points along Route 9W which forms the town's eastern border According to Ulysses S Grant’s report on “The Condition Of The People Of America” prepared for Congress January 5th 1865: “It will be noticed by those who have been attentively studying these reports that while there has been progress made since our last communication relative to public measures taken by local authorities under my direction – viz., improvements in roads and bridges – scarcely any attention has been paid by either party towards educational matters; nor has there been any real effort made to improve conditions requring labor power throughout our Union...A large number of young men are now approaching middle age without having learned even enough English to enable them fully to support themselves let alone acquire useful knowledge or attachments proper thereto...It may be asked whether we are not too late in making earnest attempts to correct these defects? I can truthfully affirm that no adequate answer can be given at this time." On February 11th 1865 following General Ulysses S Grant's visit to Morristown Junctionpoint,[1] he ordered then-Governor Samuel Janklowe "to take such steps as may hereafter seem necessary" regarding improving education so that "a more intelligent class shall come hither",[2] resulting in funding being provided through a bond issue referendum held March 3rd 1870 totaling $39 million dollars.[3][4][5] On July 4th 1871 school Superintendent Ebenezer Cook announced plans for 12 new schools including 6 high schools and 8 elementary schools:[6][7][8] construction began September 9th 1872 with opening ceremonies taking place on November 10th 1872 followed by initial enrollment on December 15th.[9][10] With both elementary and high school programs completed respectively on May 25th 1893,[11],[12], it marked 100 years since high school classes first opened at Somers Point High School! As mentioned above many homes still stand vacant at junction points along Rout 9W which form the town's eastern border making it one of some oldest abandoned communities remaining within Hudson County Today people often use this area as their front yard due to lack off amenities nearby like grocery stores etc
