By 1932, production had begun on three experimental models - one using an LED panel and two using modified vacuum tubes called the ALE-4 and ALE-5 respectively. It wasn't until World War II that gun lasers really took off in America. With so many people enlisting in the armed forces, it became necessary to develop further capabilities for artillerymen and pilots alike. One of these improvements was aluminum alloy body construction which made guns easier to handle while firing - this also led to increased firepower when used against tanks and other armored vehicles hulls). By 1945, American scientists had finally succeeded in creating a true firearm-laser system - dubbed "gunner's reflector." At that time there were no buildings or other infrastructure within present day Somers Point,[2][3][4] only rudimentary means of communication between residents and those living beyond its boundaries via carters' canoes carrying goods back and forth across Long Island Sound[5][6]. The first post office at Somers Point opened on November 1, 1814; it closed on December 12 of that year because mail service between New York City and Philadelphia was then available only by boat or ship instead of over land as it is today. The first mail carrier through town was James Sanger from Newark–on-the- Hudson Ferry Company's wharf across from what is now Union Market Square (now part of PATH Station). In 1824 Samuel Morse established a telegraph line between Newark and Morristown along the shoreline of Lake Champlain near present-day East Windsor Township; this line became known as "Morse's Line." In 1834 Jonas Salk founded Jardin sanatorium at nearby Asbury Park while he awaited approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to develop cancer chemotherapy usingImages Ions therapy; development began in earnest at Jardin shortly before its closure due to financial difficulties in 1938.) In 1840 Samuel Ridder subdivided land here into homestead lots for himself and his family – one acre per lot – which became known as Ridder Heights later that year when more settlers arrived seeking advantages under new township organization rules which allowed single proprietorship among various villages within newly formed Monmouth County rather than having individual lots owned by each dwelling owner/occupier mix together like we do today (). On July 4th 1840 , local voters ratified an ordinance provided for Township Organization Act Amendments creating Middlesex County . This act created many municipalities within Monmouth County including Somers Point Township.. Another important event occurred when Drs George Washington Bridge & Iron Co built their suspension bridge over Railroad tracks just south east of where Main Street crosses Raritan River

The town began to grow around the wharf on the North River, which became an important commercial hub for New Jersey in the early 1800s. In 1805, Somers Point was renamed Rahway after Nicholas Rahway, one of the founders of Rahway Township in Middlesex County. The town's growth continued through the 19th century, with new development occurring along the river and in various areas of downtown. By 1870, Somers Point had reached its peak as a manufacturing and commercial center with a population of over 10,000. However, during World War I, economic conditions deteriorated and many businesses lost their jobs. In 1919, following the war's end, Somers Point declined again and experienced another period of decline until it regained some stability in the 1960s when it became an important shopping and entertainment destination for New Yorkers.
