The town was founded about this time as a result and became an important stop on stagecoaches between Camden and Philadelphia which made it extremely lucrative for merchants and entrepreneurs such as Samuel Fenton who built several significant businesses around here including Fenton & Co., Purdy's Furniture Store and Jno Kapperer Mercantile Company among others before he died in 1851. However during World War II many residents chose to evacuate due to strategic bombing raids over their homes which destroyed most buildings within range leaving only foundations standing today; some locals still visit these ruins each summer to experience firsthand howbombing impacted their community back then!
