Secaucus, New Jersey is a borough in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the borough had a population of 58,653. It is part of the Newark–Union Township School District. The Secaucus ZIP Code 07604 represents most of the borough's population. The area that would become Secaucus was first settled by Dutch and English colonists in 1664. In 1714, John Patterson bought land in what would become Secaucus from the Paterson family and named it after his father-in-law Sir George Secaucus (1592-1659). In 1837, two brothers founded the firm of Astor and Nicholson which became one of America's leading financial institutions. The Secaucus Fishing Pier was built on Long Beach Creek in 1868 to provide access to river fishing opportunities for local residents. In 1887, Village Trust Company President Charles Fenton donated 1/4 acre (0.28 km2) on both banks of Great River Road (then called "Queen's Highway") between Center Street and Hackensack Avenue to be used as a public park; this later became known as Fenton Park. The first school opened at Union School on May 15th, 1888; it was located on Broad Street across from today's Borough Hall building. On November 3rd, 1888 – thanks to an effort by Borough President Augustus Kelley – new Borough Hall was dedicated within minutes after being completed on Morris Avenue - making Secaucus one of only three municipalities in New Jersey with its own municipal government outside of township form (the others being Trenton and Camden). A committee headed by Kelley recommended annexation by Newark but due to objections from Mayor Nicholas Matteucci (!), who claimed that his municipality included much more territory than Secaucus did (Secaucus covers just over half of what Newark does), it never happened. However annexation did happen when Wilson Bros., developers who were looking for land south of Pleasantville before they sold their holdings to the city because they feared its potential negative impact upon their development plans for South Orange – something that has yet to happen with any other municipality annexed into Newark since then! According to the 2000 US Census there were 56,965 people living in Secaucus aged 18 or over according to their place of residence census forms; 38% White alone compared with 25% Black or African American alone and 31% Asian Pacific Islander alone

Secaucus, New Jersey is a small town located in Hudson County, New Jersey. The population was 7,856 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Newark-Jersey City metropolitan area. Secaucus is home to Secaucus South High School and Secaucus West High School. The first settlement in what is now Secaucus was founded by Dutch colonists in 1624 as "Het Goede Hart". In 1701, the British Crown granted land to Elias Jansen van Buren for his military services during the American Revolutionary War. In 1764, John Parsons developed an agricultural estate near Secaucus that became known as Parsons Hill. The post office at Secaucus was established on July 14, 1811, and was renamed after Maj. Gen.-Genl. Nicholas Hoban (1738-1802), one of the early leaders of Ulysses S Grant's army during the Mexican War (1846-48). In 1875–76, a group of developers built a large new townsite on land that had been purchased from Parsons Hill by Levi Strauss & Co.. They named their new community “Secaucus” after Nicholas Hoban and its original site – between Manhattan Beach and Holmdel Avenue – lies just north of present day Union Station on Broadway between 1st and 2nd Streets East. At that time it included about two square miles (4 km²) of rolling countryside including four villages: Beekman Heights (now called Wood Dale), Cedar Grove, Overlook Park and Northvale Village which are all still living today within walking distance of each other. A school district was formed out of these four villages in 1922 when they were merged into one entity known as Morristown Township Schools District No." In 1914–15 local businessmen George Latham donated land to build a sports arena which would become State College Stadium; he also donated $5 million towards construction costs over 25 years with plans for it to be used primarily for college football games but it eventually became home to both NFL teams Giants FBS team from 1915-1966 until 1975 when they moved to MetLife Stadium; and then Jets AFL team from 1976-present ≡ gridiron stadiums around world
