Secaucus, New Jersey is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 37,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area. Secaucus is located on U.S. Route 1 and Interstate 95 and has a primarily Dutch-American culture. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Secaucus were traders from Holland who named it "Hudson's Bay". In 1795, a group of Englishmen led by Colonel Jameson set out from Hoboken for the purpose of exploring this new land and eventually founded Princeton on the north shore of Newark Bay. They named their new town after George Washington because he had been their commander during the American Revolution. The settlement quickly grew and by 1800 had a population of around 2,000 people. In 1814, Secaucus was incorporated as a village within Bergen County; however, it would not become part of that county until 1824 when it became part of Hudson County following its creation from parts of Bergen and Essex counties. When Secaucus first became an incorporated town it consisted only of a few homes built between 1814 and 1816 by farmers who immigrated to America from Europe seeking opportunities beyond those available in their home countries back home. By 1830 there were over 1,500 residents living in Secaucus proper with additional homes scattered throughout the surrounding villages which comprised the Townsite Plan No 5 (dated 1832). This plan called for each village to have two stores & one school & for all inhabitants to be required to maintain household services such as water supply & plumbing etcetera without any assistance from anyone outside their village/town limits even though these services could easily be obtained by residents within their own Village or Township boundaries if they so desired (& many did!). These days we can appreciate how important it was for every inhabitant within our Village or Township boundaries to contribute something towards keeping things running smoothly since without regular maintenance our infrastructure would soon become overwhelmed! A total 23 individuals are listed on this document which shows just how much importance local government had at that time! Our current infrastructure wouldn’t exist today if not for the collective efforts made by all ourResidents inside & outside our Municipality! To date we still maintain most everything mentioned on this document including streetlights (courtesy Of PSE) while upgrade work is currently ongoing on several important roads downtown which will result in increased traffic congestion but overall we feel very lucky that such essential services still remain active despite some occasional disruptions

Secaucus, New Jersey is a town in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, Secaucus had a population of 90.539 and was the tenth most populous municipality in New Jersey. The name "Secaucus" comes from the Lenape word "sekacus" meaning place where they gather to trade goods. The first people who lived in what is now Secaucus were the Lenape Native Americans. They were hunters and gatherers that made their home near present-day Hackensack River Valley. In 1674, Dutch colonists named Johannes Hudsons group moved from Perth Amboy to what is now Secaucus after surveyors found them land on which they could build homes and Fort George on May 20th, 1674. The Hudsons renamed their new settlement after Prince Maurice of Orange-Nassau who had sponsored them as part of his generous gift to New Netherland (later America). During this time, the area around present-day Secaucus was known as Northampton Township because it lay east of then Middlesex County lines and north of Sussex County lines at that time. On February 9th 1714,.
