When Europeans first arrived in what is now New Jersey, they found a beautiful and isolated area with rich natural resources. The land was originally used for hunting and fishing, but over time the area became known as "The Garden of Eden." After European settlers explored and discovered this place, they began to build homes and mills. One of the early pioneers in Roselle was Major General George Washington who built his home here in 1795. By 1809, over 1,000 people were living in Roselle. In 1812, the first school opened in Roselle. This primary school served both single adults and children up until1838 when it became a part of the Borough School District. In 1865, the Borough School District merged with East Orange Township to form the currentRoselle Township government. In 1895, a new high school was built in Roselle by local businessmen John J. Dolan and George Waddell Jr.. This building was designed by architect Philip Johnson and is still standing today! Over time, many optical products have been released from Roselle businesses such as NEXUS Optics Corporation (now known as Sigma-Aldrich) which has its headquarters here; Optical Components Inc., which manufactures lenses for digital camcorders; Eastern Electric Company (later Philadelphia Electric Company), which manufactured electric lights; American Glass Co.; The Edison Glass Works; Hudson's Bay Company - later Canadian Pacific Railway -owned stores located throughout town; Bendix Radio Corporation - later Viacom/ CBS -produced television programs filmed here including "The Beverly Hillbillies"and "Barney Miller"; United States Rubber Company which made rubber boots for soldiers during World War II; The Ralston Paper company which processed paper for printing purposes until 1984 when it merged with Hormel Foods Inc.; Finally, Goudreau Bros.' dealership which sold Refrigerators, Tubs & More appliances along with automobiles from 1936 until 1978 when it closed its doors permanently!

Roselle is a town located in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Morris County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers in what is now Roselle were German farmers who arrived in 1764. They named their farm "Dresden", after their home city in Germany. The name was changed to "Roswell" by its founders because of the abundance of wild roses that grew thereabouts. The Roswell area was originally settled as a small community known as West Egg on township land east of where Roswell now stands. On July 4, 1809, Roswell became a borough and was reorganized as a town on November 3, 1868 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature under the terms of the Morrill Act which granted township status to towns with 10 or more residents without having to apply for it and with power to levy taxes equal to those levied by municipalities with less than ten residents. The original town site included present-day Rossell Park and much of what is today Elmwood Avenue and North Hanover Street between Rutgers University Boulevard and McGraw Hill Road; all within limits established by boundaries set down by state map commissioners upon recommendation of Governor James Kappenstaller when he made his report on new townships being formed throughout New Jersey during his term from 1865 through 1870 inclusive. In 1876, West Egg had merged into Rossell Park following an acrimonious split among its citizens over control of local government affairs between two factions: one led by Mayor John Cavanaugh (1835-1910) while another including Jno.[1] In 1911, when the entire boroughs were combined into Roselle Township under then newly created Morris County until that county's dissolution in 2014,[2]roselle remained an unincorporated community separate from Morris County proper save for annexation pursuant to that county's laws and regulations governing such matters (the annexed portion lying immediately northward along East Hanover Street from Rutgers University Boulevard). At that time roselle also became subject to Morristown Borough Council jurisdiction through resolution adopted June 24th 1978 reaffirmingiance thereof pursuant to section 5-4a(c) NJS 2C:38 . Prior thereto roselle had been governed solely by Borough Council meetings held at homes or other locations convenient for public attendance provided no business ever proceeded beyond discussion arising out of proposed resolutions brought before them nor any vote taken therein respecting taxation or any other matter whatever

Roselle is a small town in New Jersey, United States. It is located in the counties of Hunterdon and Middlesex. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. Roselle was platted on April 1, 1824 by Elias Howe, who named it for his sister Rosalie (born 1792). The community was originally called Westfield and later changed to Roselle after its incorporation into Middlesex County. The first settler in what is now Roselle was Nicholas D’Angelo, who arrived there in 1824 with his family from Italy. He built a cabin on the west side of present-day Main Street. In 1830, John Lapp purchased land east of Main Street from Nicholas D’Angelo and began farming it. During the 1840s and 1850s many farmers moved to what is now Roselle from various parts of New Jersey because of the cheap land available hereabouts. Most important among these early settlers were two men who played an important role in starting this community: Elias Howe and Jesse Jameson. Howe came to Roselle from Elizabethtown Township near Philadelphia in 1825; Jameson arrived two years later from Rahway Township in Essex County. They both helped found the fictional town of Westfield on April 1, 1824 as part of their plans to create a new society based upon religious toleration for all faiths under one roof. It wasn't long before either man realized that they would need help getting started – which they received largely thanks to Amos Kendall Pawling, an experienced lawyer and member of the township board of commissioners whom they met whileawaiting Pawling's arrival from Philadelphia so that they could incorporate as a village.. When he finally did arrive on October 2, 1826 – just weeks after their incorporation – Howe and Jameson organized a meeting at which they elected Pawling townsman for their new village... four months later – on December 4th - all but one inhabitant had moved into its first buildings: George Washington Smith (a tailor), Abram Brown (a blacksmith/carpenter), Isaac Taylor (a shoemaker) and Solomon Pryce (the first postmaster). This marks perhapsthe earliest indication that Roseslle had any sortof social life outsideofits own boundaries - something that would continue throughout its history.. In 1830 Jacobs ran unsuccessfully for reelection as township trustee against incumbent Samuel Griggs; four years later he won election unopposed when Griggs resigned amid charges of corruption within his township government... Jacobs accomplished mostofwhat he set out to do when he took office - modernizingRosellle's infrastructure such as forming roads and erecting bridges;improving drainage systems;and establishing schoolsfor public instruction within its limits.. In additionhe promoted agricultural improvements including developing a corn field system which became nationally famous during America's second civil war.;He also initiated several businesses such as a storehouse where goods were unloaded onto barges moored at Seaford Landing,, another store where produce was bought fresh or frozen,,an insurance company,,an ice cream parlor,,and numerous others over time
Roselle was once a small, rural town in New Jersey. It is now a part of the Bergen County borough of Union City. The town was founded by Jews in 1836 and grew rapidly with its early Jewish population. In 1907, Roselle's first synagogue opened. The town became known for its defense against antisemitism during World War II. After the war, the town changed hands several times and finally merged with Paramus in 1951.
