Roselle Park is a small town located in Union County, New Jersey. The population was 10,569 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Newark metropolitan area. The first settler in Roselle Park was John Fenton who came to the area in 1814. In 1835, Amos Holland bought 640 acres of land at the junction of Route 20 and Academy Road from Nicholas Mosconi for $1,000. The site became known as Holland's Farm because it served as a stop on the Morristown and Bethlehem Railroad. In 1868, Abraham White purchased 4 square miles (10 km²) of land east of Roselle Park from Nicholas Mosconi for $2,000. He named his property White's Landing because he had received help from Commodore George Washington Irving when he ran out of money to purchase lands in Virginia Beach, Maryland. In 1875, Captain Lewis Wistar developed a farm on what is now Dutch Kills Boulevard near Center Avenue and Highway 9 outside of Roselle Park for $3 per acre ($/km²). Colonel Augustus Frederick Weems laid out streets in 1897 and organized a village called Westfield which later became Roselle Park proper. By 1907 there were 109 people living in Westfield with an average household size of 3.7 persons; this number increased to 158 by 1920 but decreased to 102 during World War II due to gun confiscation campaigns conducted by the American government On November 15th, 1938 FDNY firefighters burning off leaves near Dutch Kills Boulevard discovereditem concealed within an old apple tree- it turned out to be a bomb planted inside one of America's most prestigious landmarks just days before Thanksgiving! As result thereof Manhattan Borough President James "Jimmy" Brennan convened a press conference at Borough Hall that morning announcing that all Fire Department equipment had been destroyed pursuant to Executive Order 13422 which declared any "subversive" objects found within or around City Halls and other public buildings invalid under Ulysses S Grant administration... Bomb Squad detectives soon determined that no explosive device existed beneath the tree- only an old postcard left behind by its previous owner! After verifying this through examination photos they learned that no explosives could have detonatedHad this information not been released highly embarrassing headlines would have resulted including one regarding Mayor LaGuardia's trip to Europe!!!

Roselle Park was formed from part of South Brunswick Township on April 1, 1874 and named for Marie Lavette Roselle (1792-1872), wife of Pierre Lavette. The first settlers in what is now Roselle Park were French Canadians who arrived in 1795 and were known as the Petit Troupes. In 1814 the area became part of the independent township of South Brunswick. On April 1, 1874, the township was merged with Middlesex County and Roselle Park became a borough. According to the 2005 Census, over half of all residents were White European American while African Americans made up just 2%. There are also significant numbers of Hispanics (12%) and Asians (1%). The median family income is $60,200 which is below the state median but above the national average. However, there are many high-income families which make significantly more than that amount; for instance: Mayor Giovanni DeMaggio's fatherearned an annual salary of $143,000 as a county judge! In recent years there have been several controversial issues related to crime in Roselle Park including gang shootings that have left two people dead and multiple homes destroyed or damaged due to arson during late night parties/ conflicts between gangs. Overall though crime rates remain low because most crimes take place outside of public view where citizens can watch from their home windows without fear for their safety

The early settlers were primarily farmers and traders, but development soon occurred into what is now an sprawling community of over 100,000 people. The community's growth continued through the 1800s and into the 20th century. In 1916, Roselle Park became part of the newly created Township of Monmouth County. The township was dissolved in 1974 and its residents transferred to the new Borough of Edison.
