Roselle Park is a small town located in Mercer County, New Jersey. The population was 11,711 at the 2010 census. The name comes from Roselle Creek and the rose family's plantation there. In 1824, Loyalist refugees from Philadelphia arrived in Rosesville with their families and began to build Log Cabin No. 2 on the creek bank opposite present-day Main Street. In 1830, John Kapp bought an acre (0.40 km²) of land at what is now Maple Avenue and Roadstead Drive and built a house there which became known as Kapp's Manor until it was sold to George Witherspoon in 1865. In 1872, three brothers named Burns purchased land south of present day Maple Avenue and east ofpresent-day Route 22nd Street for $1,000 cash; this property became known as Burns' Farms after them. Between 1880 and 1890, two more brothers named McClusky bought land adjacent to Burns' Farms for £2 per acre (0.88 km²). This area became known as McClusky's Addition when it was annexed by Rosesville in 1890 In 1905, James Aiken founded Jaxon & Aiken Funeral Directors which stands today as one of Mercer County’s leading funeral directors After World War II ended, many farmers lost their jobs due to changes in farming patterns brought about by advances in technology In 1951 when Roselle Park Township formed from part of Mercer County following decimalization within New Jersey , its charter granted it “the power . . . to erect all buildings necessary for public purposes including schools” Roselle Park had its first schoolhouse – East High School – built in 1922 on lands donated by Mrs Fenton Lewisohn The township trustees decided that high school students would be educated at home through correspondence courses until they reached the age of 21 ; accordingly , East High School closed down during the early 1960s while West Middle School opened simultaneously across town soon afterwards A new high school opened its doors on November 1st 1966 - Roselle Park Junior Senior High School serving students aged 9-12 years old

The first settler in what is now Roselle Park was Samuel S. Roselle who came on a ship called "Thetis" in 1876. He and his wife Sarah Jane landed at Camden on April 7th and set up shop near present day South Street and Broadwalk Avenue. By 1880, the population of the area had swelled to over 100 residents and they built a log cabin near where US 9 now runs (now known as Route 9). In 1923, when New Jersey became an independent state, the name of the town was changed to Roselle Park based on its founders' daughter-in-law's maiden name:Rose Lillie Roseselle (later Mrs George Washington Carver). Roseselle had married George Washington Carver in 1911 while he was serving as Minister to France under President Woodrow Wilson. Mr Carver later became one of America's most celebrated agricultural scientists and philanthropists with many scholarships awarded to him throughout his lifetime including one which helped pay for creation of The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville
