In 1849, two men, Elijah Howe and Abram Morse, patented a system of optical fiber optics which became known as the Morse Code. This invention allowed communication between sailors on the Great Lakes and East Coast cities without having to rely on messengers who would be lost in the countryside. In 1865, Cyrus McCormick developed a machine that could print paper using an electric current through a tube of glass. This gave rise to the printing press and made it possible for people throughout Europe and America to read newspapers and other printed materials. The development of photography also led to the widespread adoption of aluminum film for photographic processing in 1888.

In 1916, the company merged with the American Glass Company to form American Glass & Mirror Corporation. In 1928, American Glass & Mirror Corporation merged with J.P. Morgan & Co., which created America's largest bank by market capitalization at that time. The merger increased the size of American Glass and Mirror Corp to over $1 billion by 1938. During World War II,American Glass & Mirror Corp produced glass eyes for military use and also manufactured precision tools and laboratory equipment used in scientific research. After the war,the company resumed its traditional production of optical products such as eyeglasses and telescopes. River Edge is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,828 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated community of River Edge lies within the town. The first settlers in what is now River Edge were farmers and their families who arrived from Pennsylvania in the early 18th century. A post office was established at River Edge in 1797, and remained in operation until 1865. The community was named for the edge of a large body of water that ran through it, which served as its main source of drinking water. As Manufacturing Technology advanced during the 1920s and 1930s, river transportation became increasingly important to businesses and residents throughout Northeast Corridor states; this led to increased development around Riveredge and other portions of Mercer County. By the late 1990s, however, economic conditions had deteriorated throughout much of Northeast Corridor countries due to globalization and technological advancement; this made it difficult for businesses to stay open or maintain an active local economy. In response to these challenges, many businesses have chosen to move away from Riveredge or closed their doors altogether; some have left for newer locations while others have decided to relocate but remain part of the community on a day-to-day basis. Despite these changes, many residents still call RiverEdge home because it is an essential part of their lives both socially and economically. Today’s riverfront communities are often defined by two things: access to waterwayside amenities (such as beaches) and close proximity to shopping malls/industrial areas within walking distance or minutes’ drive. While there are also smaller villages located near riverside properties such as Lakewood Ranch (New York), Atlantic City (New Jersey), Trenton (New Jersey), and Hackensack (New Jersey), none can quite hold up against those found nearer metropolitan areas with more diverse demographics - like Philadelphia or New York City - where people come not just for waterfront access but also world class retailers like Macy’s department store or Neiman Marcus flagship store along with restaurants such as Zara which overlook Penn Station platforms below ground level on Fifth Avenue between 43rd Street/4th Avenue South & Madison Square Garden South across Eastern Parkway from Chambers Street/Lexington Avenue . This type of environment has been called “the urban edge” by some researchers because it represents a new frontier for commerce that offers opportunities for pedestrians rather than motorists who must cross streets busy with vehicular traffic en route to destinations elsewhere on Long Island Sound . As such, many locals take pride in being able to walk anywhere they want within minutes without having anything sold street-side - something missing from most coastal towns where commercial districts dominate waterfront areas

D’Alembert named his new community after his native river, the Delaware. Over time, Newark grew as a commercial center for shipping goods downriver to Philadelphia and other points along the Atlantic coast. In 1834, Newark became an incorporated town under New Jersey law. In 1881, River Edge became a borough in its own right when it merged with neighboring Perth Amboy to form one municipality. In 1951,River Edge again became a Borough under New Jersey law when it amalgamated with Linden Township to form Linden-River Edge Township. In 1974,the township divided into two parts – Linden-River Edge Township (on the north side of the river) and Gladstone-Linden Township (on the south side). Both municipalities remain part of New Jersey government today. The community at River Edge owes its beginnings to waves of immigrants who arrived during America's founding era. Initially drawn mainly from Ireland and Britain, many refugees settled in Newark during and after World War II. Many families came specifically because they were interested in finding work in postwar America – both menial jobs and better opportunities than they had experienced back home. Even though mostRAG edge residents chose not to pursue professional careers orto settle permanently in NorthAmerica due to cost or availability reasons, their descendants have continued to contribute significantly toward NJ's economy and culture over successive generations - witness recent redevelopment efforts spearheaded by Mayor Cory Booker himself! The first Europeans to arrive in what is now New Jersey were Dutch traders and fishermen who discovered the area in 1608. The region was then called the New Netherland because of its new location on the southern tip of Manhattan. In 1664, English colonists arrived from England and founded a settlement on the east bank of the Delaware River. The colony was known as "New York" because it was located at the mouth of the Hudson River. By 1764, English control over New Jersey had expanded so far north that they renamed it Pennsylvania after their new province. In 1776, during the American Revolutionary War, British forces occupied Philadelphia and declared New Jersey an independent state. The state's capital was moved to Trenton in 1781 but it reverted back to Philadelphia soon thereafter because Trenton lacked congressional authority to do so. With independence came increased Spanish influence in what is now central NJ due to its strategic location between Philly and Philadelphia along one of America's major trade routes.
