There is no question that ammunition has been a key factor in human history. Ammunition has helped to preserve and defend our nation for centuries, and River Edge is no exception. The town was founded by English colonists in 1709 on the Susquehanna River, and its namesake, the river’s edge, became an important part of the community. An important armaments manufacturer in River Edge was Mr. John Smeaton & Sons. This company manufactured both artillery ammunition and small arms ammunition from 1814 until their closing in 1896. In 1892, Mr. Smeaton donated land to create a rifle range on his property which still remains today as River Edge Rifle Range (RER). The land that now houses RER was once used for agricultural purposes; however, it has become one of the most popular shooting ranges in New Jersey due to its perfect location - just minutes away from downtown and all of the shopping districts that make up Philadelphia proper! Today, River Edge Shooter's Association offers classes (ranging from beginner to advanced) for those interested in learning how to shoot firearms at various distances including target shooting, rifle hunting, shotgun shooting and more! There are also several tournaments each year hosted by RER which offer bragging rights to those who cansuccessfully compete at the top levels! Municipal government funding allows us to host additional events such as 4-H exhibitions or historical reenactments which give kids a chance to learn about local history while having some fun!

The first ammunition in River Edge was shot by the British before America was born. The first shells fired from American cannons were made of cast iron and lead, which caused some injuries to those who caught them in their houses. In 1776, militia men from New Jersey took up arms against the British and soon began putting cartridge cases into their muskets to fire at the enemy. By 1812, powder had been brought overland from England so that Cannonball shot could be used. The townspeople set up a cannon-iring ground on what is now Pine Street and began using this ammunition for target practice in 1814. In 1861, during the American Civil War, both sides developed new types of artillery pieces called "mortar guns". The Union forces turned to captured Confederate mortar guns for use against their own citizens. In 1862, Captain John Jernigan built a mortar battery on top of a Hill located behind NoMa High School (now known as City Hall) in order to shell the buildings inside. This battery became one of the most important weapons in Union efforts against Confederate General Robert Ewell's army near Gettysburg. In 1864, during Reconstruction following the Civil War, River Edge residents helped build an armory and rifle range on Main Street just east of where Trinity Church now stands. Ammunition production continued until 1895 when it stopped because of a combination of technological advances and World War I military procurement quotas. Today there are still some small businesses that sell ammunition here including Ammo Plus Guns & Ammo which specializes in reloading supplies; Billy Gunners carries firearms ammo; Midway Shooter provides targets; Pistol Pete offers handgun ammo; and Shooting Gallery offers lessons in shooting with rifles/machines
River Edge is an unincorporated community located in Mercer County, New Jersey. It lies on the border of Mercer and Sussex Counties, at the mouth of the Raritan River. The community was founded in 1856 by Germans who arrived from Westphalia and Germany. The name "River Edge" derived from a nearby river, which served as their main water supply. By 1876, most of the original settlers had departed for other parts of America, leaving behind a small population of German-American descendants living in what is now River Edge. The postwar period saw increased traffic along the Raritan due to its natural resources; this led to an increase in development around the community, which has since become one of its most active communities. Today, River Edge remains a primarily ethnic German-American community with some Italian and Portuguese residents also present. There are also several stores and restaurants located within walking distance of the community center and high school.

River Edge, New Jersey is located in the Monmouth County borough of Neptune and is a town that was founded in 1764. The name River Edge comes from the fact that the river ran through it. It has been a manufacturing town for most of its history with small businesses taking up space along theributaries of the Hackensack River. The first mills were built on what is now Walnut Street in 1784 by Nicholas Fenton. However, this industry only lasted until after World War II when production shifted to paper products. In 1840, John Bock opened his mill on Park Avenue which became one of the largest mills in America. This company manufactured everything from flour to paper products before being bought by Wabash Paper Company in 1951. After Wabash left, River Edge lost some of its significance but regained it during the late 20th century when it became an important center for film production and video games development. Today, River Edge remains a vibrant community with active businesses and lively cultural events
When the Dutch took over New Netherland in 1624, they began to expand their territory. The river was a natural route for goods and people between the original colony of Long Island and the new land. In 1638, the English claimed New Netherland as part of their claim to North America. The Dutch continued to trade with the English and keep most of their old treaties. By 1645, however, all but one of New Netherland’s fifty towns were abandoned because of economic reasons. In 1648, after a long siege by English forces, the Dutch capitulated and became British subjects. The river was still used as an important route for goods and people until it was filled in by building projects in the early 1800s.
