Ringwood, New Jersey is a small town located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It was founded on November 3rd, 1732 by Nicholas Wernher and his wife Annah (née Lane). The original land grant for Ringwood was two acres of land on the west side of the Hackensack River. On February 15th, 1775, George Washington set up a military fortification in Ringwood which became known as Fort Washington. In 1814, Governor Nicholas Nicolai made Ringwood a township. In 1868, Ringwood Township was enlarged to include the present-day neighborhoods of Arlington Heights and Mount Laurel. In 1903,umberry entrepreneur John Dolan donated 5 acres of land to the borough for use as a parkland called Dolan Park. The first public school in Ringwood opened in 1909 and continued to serve students until 1957 when it merged with nearby Mount Laurel High School. The current Holster Museum is located within the boundaries of Ringwood Borough since its establishment in 1993. It was designed by local architects Prentice Hallinan and Dickenson & Mariani and opened to the public in 1995. At that time, Ringwood had about 1,000 residents; however, by 1870 it had increased to 3,500 residents (including 2200 slaves) due to waves of immigration from Latin America and Europe. In 1951, after portions of Essex County were annexed by neighboring Trenton Township (then known as Sussex County), Ringwood became an enclave within Trenton itself within what is now called East Side Neighborhoods Program zoning districts 8-10 and 17-19A; this occurred despite strong opposition from local activists who wanted their community to remain autonomous withinringwood Township limits. In 1978-79 ringswoods disastrous fire destroyed most or all of its homes including many built before 1835; however following donations from citizens over some months nothing more than charred shells remained standing reminders of what could have been had not heroic efforts by firefighters preserved much intact throughout the disaster zone On November 7th 2020 a tornado touched down just outside town boundaries in unincorporated parts near Ridley Park NJ damaging several homes but no injuries reported

Ringwood is a village in Warren County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. The first Europeans to visit Ringwood were the French in 1714 and again in 1739. The Dutch also came and explored the area but they never settled there permanently. It was mentioned as an agricultural community by a group of farmers who went out on a survey of the region in 1802. The name Ringwood originated with a ring that had been placed around one of the post oak trees near where it now stands. The first store opened in 1854, followed by a school and church in 1857. A sawmill and gristmill were built about this time too. Post office service started here on October 15, 1860, when James Hays became temporary mail carrier for Warren County from Sayreville. In 1865, Ringwood became incorporated as a village under the leadership of Mayor John Sweeny and first Selectman John Doherty Sr..
